Also, worth noting of their three best players in the series I think Mitch is the youngest at 32?

I think their bowling attack is so good that they can rightly be called a really really good side.

And yeah, Haddin 35, Rogers 36, Harris 35, Johnson 32. They've got trouble again just around the corner.

Monty Panesar tried to tempt American blonde to his hotel room hours after humiliating Ashes defeat to Australia

The spin bowler chatted Alison up using a dating phone app four hours after bowling the final ball in a Fourth Test spanking by the Aussies

England cricket flop Monty Panesar put a humiliating Ashes defeat behind him – by trying to tempt a blonde to his room at the team’s hotel.

The spin bowler chatted her up using a dating phone app four hours after bowling the final ball in a Fourth Test spanking by Australia.

Panesar, 31, told the backpacker they would have to meet at his hotel apartment because the team was not allowed out.

England bosses wanted them to reflect on how badly they had played in last weekend’s Melbourne match, which left them 4-0 down in the series.

But the only maidens on Panesar’s mind were on matchmaking phone app Tinder. And he sent one user called Alison a message asking her over to his room to chill out over a drink.

Alison, who is American and in her twenties, said: “I thought it was a bit strange he would be behaving like that so soon after they had lost.

“I wanted to talk to him about cricket but he had no intentions of that. All he seemed interested in was getting me over to the hotel.”

Alison had spotted Panesar on Tinder after he uploaded a picture of himself batting against Australia.

She said: “I’d been to the Melbourne game, my first cricket match, the day before so I realised who he was.

“I sent a message because I wondered whether it was really him. I was shocked when it was.”

Divorced Sikh Panesar quickly responded. He told her he loved American girls and asked her what she was doing that night.

In a string of messages he asked her to come over to his room at the Como hotel and explained that he could not meet her at a bar because the players were banned from going out.

Alison, who wanted her surname withheld, said: “I would have met him in a public place but I was not going to meet him at his apartment by myself. You would hope people do not do that.”

Her revelation will be a further blow to the controversial cricketer, who has been plagued by personal problems.

Panesar abandoned his teetotal lifestyle after a bitter split from wife Gursharan Rattan. A court ordered him to stay away from her in 2011 following an alleged bust-up outside a pub.

Last summer he was arrested and fined for urinating on club bouncers in Brighton then sacked by his county, Northamptonshire.

His surprise selection for the Ashes tour offered him a final chance to resurrect his England career and he vowed to “repay the faith” selectors had shown in him.

But Panesar played poorly. And the eight-wicket defeat in Melbourne saw him dropped by England for this weekend’s final Test in Sydney.

Alison spotted him back on Tinder shortly after he was axed from the team. “He’s active every day on there,” she added.

“It’s strange that he’s on there when he should be *concentrating on playing cricket.”

England coach Andy Flower says he "can't be any clearer" about his desire to continue in the job despite his side's 5-0 Ashes defeat in Australia.

England lost by 281 runs inside three days in Sydney to complete one of their most humiliating overseas tours.

Flower, who took over as England boss in 2009, said: "I'm very passionate about English cricket.

"[Captain] Alastair Cook and I are very determined to ensure we get things heading in the right direction again."

England rose to number one in the world Test rankings in August 2011 and completed their third consecutive Ashes series victory with a 3-0 home win over Australia in the summer of 2013.

But despite arriving down under as favourites, they were heavily beaten in all five Tests in Australia and have now slipped to fourth in the rankings.

A two-Test series against Sri Lanka begins at Lord's on 12 June, with world number two side India arriving for five Tests a month later, and Flower is keen for England's five-day side to learn lessons from their humiliation in Australia.

"This will be the start of something new. Out of adversity some good must come and a renewal of sorts will be good for English cricket, it will be exciting for English cricket.

"We're not sure exactly what that renewal will look like right at this moment but we need wise people to make good decisions and get the right people on board, both on the playing staff and the support staff, and get things heading in the right direction again."

England's abject displays have prompted questions about the futures of Flower, 45, and captain Cook.

Asked if the performances of his team in Australia had made him angry, Flower said: "Yes and I'm glad Alastair is as well. I don't feel proud of what has happened in this Test series.

"I am proud of my involvement over the last few years. It's important that we review this logically and look at the mistakes we have made."

Since succeeding Peter Moores as England coach in 2009, Flower has overseen three Ashes series victories, the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup win, a 4-0 home series win over India that put England to the top of the world Test rankings and the first away series win in India for 28 years.

England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive David Collier has offered his full support for both Flower and Cook, but formal talks between Collier, new England managing director Paul Downton and Flower are due to take place.

Ashes 2013-14: Alastair Cook says England players have let fans down
"It's good to have their [the England and Wales Cricket Board's] support, it's good to get our heads together and look at mistakes," Flower added.

"There is a lot of development to do, the sooner we get started the better. We will have to take more pain before we have sustained success again.

"There are not many Tests between now and the next Ashes series [in 2015], but we have a little time to think what we're doing with the Test side. There is time to get on top of it."

Meanwhile, Warwickshire's Chris Woakes has been called up to England's squad for the limited overs series against Australia.

                            The 24-year-old all-rounder has played 13 one-day internationals and four T20 matches.

In his ODI he took 6-45 against Australia in Brisbane but has taken only eight wickets in 11 matches since.

Cook will lead England in five ODIs, with the first taking place in Melbourne next Sunday, followed by three T20 encounters.

England will be coached by former left-arm spinner Ashley Giles for the limited overs series, and Flower says Australia's momentum from the Ashes will pose a stern test over the course of the the forthcoming matches.

"It's a huge challenge for Ash and Alastair. The Australians are very confident and to a large extent we've allowed that to develop, and it will be a tough task for both of them to turn this ship around."

Why is the next Ashes series over here in 2015?? I really don't get this. Used to be here every four years, down under every four years, so a series every two years. We had a series here in 2013, and so surely the next home Ashes should be 2017? What's going on?

Money spinning. Not many other Test series have the drawing power or meaning of the Ashes. Look at India v SA. Half empty stadiums and they are the 2 best teams in the world.

First day of the Boxing Day test had over 90,000 people. So the ECB must want more of the same.
