Brendan Mccullum made it to 302 over night. First ever Kiwi to score a triple ton.
    *Except Michael, who died.

He is in incredible form. NZ look a good side too. They should've beaten us and are beating India now.

Puts our draw over there in perspective. I think we all wrote them off as being awful, but they clearly aren't. Very good bowling attack and a couple of very decent batsmen. Good side.

Their bowling was clearly good - Trent Boult is fantastic and he's ably supported by Southee and Wagner. Batting wise they had Ross Taylor and McCullum who are obviously top class, and Williamson and Rutherford who look potentially top class. Good to see good sides emerging.

Jonathan Trott targets fresh start in bid to regain his Test place

Jonathan Trott is due to hold talks with England cricket officials this week as he targets a return to action with Warwickshire.

Trotty has not played since returning home with a stress-related illness after the First Test of the winter Ashes series last November.

But the batsman is believed to be recovering well and is thought to be quietly optimistic about his chances of being ready to start the county season.

The Division One campaign begins in early April, and Warwickshire’s opening first-class match will be against Oxford University, starting on April 7.

Trotty and Paul Downton, the new managing director of England cricket, are understood to have been in contact and Standard Sport understands there is a chance they could meet in the coming days.

In a period of considerable upheaval for English cricket, which has seen both coach Andy Flower and batsman Kevin Pietersen leave the stage, it would be welcome news for the selectors if Trotty started the season and found form quickly.

As things stand, England are without a Test opening partnership and cannot be certain about who might fill the middle-order positions. Trotty averages 46 from his 49 Tests and a return to his regular role at No3 would provide considerable reassurance to captain Alastair Cook.

The news last week that Trotty would miss Warwickshire’s pre-season tour of Barbados was interpreted as a setback for the 32-year-old but there had never been any plans for him to travel to the Caribbean — just as it is thought to be unlikely that the county’s other England players, Ian Bell and Chris Woakes, will do so.

Trotty made his Test debut in 2009, scoring a century in the final Ashes Test that summer that helped Andrew Strauss’s team regained the urn. He quickly established himself as one of the world’s most reliable batsmen and became a key member of the team who rose to the top of the Test rankings in 2011.

Trotty has been similarly strong in 50-over cricket, a format in which he averages 51, and last summer he helped England reach the Champions Trophy final.

Jonathan Trott is fine, btw, and will start the season for Warwickshire in The Parks.

Oh Brendon MCCullum scored a triple hundred in the third innings and we went on to draw a match which we should have won comfortably.

FFS Dhoni and his defensive captaincy when we should've shut them off. Entire 4t day we took 2 wickets. Their number 8 too scored a hundred

Me - Do you think Trotty will get back in the England side this summer? My favourite player I think we'll need his experience, especially now they've booted out KP.

George - Yeah, yeah. He's fine. They'd be insane not to pick him. But then it's insane not to pick KP so...

So what *was* wrong with Trott then? If he's "fine" already I dare say he wasn't suffering with proper depression/mental illness.

I'd owe you an apology too

It was widely reported at the time but something doesn't add up. Flower said he and the management team were aware that Trott had an ongoing problem that reared its head in Oz. But as I said if he's "fine" now something doesn't add up.

On average, an episode of major depression lasts 4 to 8 months, although this duration can be shortened by treatment
It was only speculation then and its only speculation now, but it is still quite plausible.

TBH think it's pointless speculation anyways, just glad he's better
