We got very lucky to win that but I'd say we deserved that luck when you look at the overall performance in the competition. Best side won the world cup.

Hate both teams, was very conflicted about this the whole time. Decided I wanted NZ to win due to the 'overthrows' from Stoke's bat. Don't know what to make of it. It was a lose-lose to me for many a reason, personal and otherwise, but trust England to get lucky for **** sake and get that rub of the green.

It's been a weird WC overall, particularly with the format, but jeez what a fittingly awkwardly weird conclusion. Didn't know that Super Over's were in the ODI format, many a fallen great would be turning in their grave. Oh well, fair play, it's done. Let's do it again in 4 years. One of the best in terms of competition, not in quality. Excluding Afganistan the difference between the best and worst team were minimal, so somewhat positive. Also avoiding the 400 vs 400 scoring was key, balance between bat and ball is integral for the survival of the game.

It was an incredible conclusion and the super over was awesome, so exciting. I reckon you're very much in the minority with that view.

That was quite simply the greatest game of cricket I have seen, it had the lot. Gutted for NZ but you can not deny this is the best England team ever and they were deserving winners.

I dunno, I make it more than that. I even put my Harv hat on and exclude one Englishman for not being white enough.

Err ok Not sure where I've ever said you need to be white to be English. But please, go ahead and continue to tar me with that racist tag.
I don't care what colour their skin is, its completely irrelevant this day and age. I mean actually born in England or at least raised from an early age. Not come over from an English colony at the age of 19 and then conveniently discovered to have a claim to an English passport whilst playing county cricket a year later like a certain Jofra Archer. He should be playing for the Windies, **** knows they need him!

You don't see that happen anywhere near as much in football do you. Takes quite a few years to become naturalised and then be able to play for the national team.

I'm not doubting the entertainment in any which way, it undoubtedly was. Don't necessarily think that there is any good way to sort out such matters, but from a purists' perspective it is a bit strange watching a T20 invention make its way into other forms of the game.

Not that my opinion matters at all, I'm of the school that all limited over cricket should be discontinued and cricket should be tests only.

I don't know, there have been SA born players representing England, Australia and NZ for decades. Same in rugby, netball and other sports. Australia are no different; Labuschagne, Wessels, Vickerman, Rathbone, Pocock etc.

Even in this day and age, if Zimbabwean crickets plying their trade for other countries were given a chance to go back, they'd have a fairly decent team - if you think of Ballance, the Curran's, de Grandhomme etc. It's a fact of life for many countries.

I know England are particularly bad though, I remember seeing an Andy Caddick interview where he admitted that when he made his debut for England he recognised the Australian anthem when they had lined up, but knew nothing of the English one

Doesn't matter in club sport so not sure it matters in international sport either. That said, I do find it odd that an individual would want to play for England if they're not English. We're the world's most hated people with few allies and yet there's no shortage of folk wanting to represent them
