I listened on TMS also. It was incredibly compelling.

I view Aggers in a whole new light since he was caught texting that Journo calling him a cunt. He seems way more edgy, where as before he was just a posh old duffer

He and McGrath were really good value, and I was warming to Cook at this point, particularly his humility in stating that he literally would be unable to match the way Stokes was playing.

Not many I can think of that could pull that innings off. No matter how good a batsman. When you get to the point of having no partners left on a day 5 pitch and just having to not only baby sit a bloke that looks like he should be crunching the numbers at KPMG rather than batting in an Ashes test, but also make runs as fast as humanly possible. Absolutely incredible.

That was the sort of innings that goes down in folklore and the sort of thing as years go by and new generations learn about cricket its magnitude and mystique will only grow. It was that good.

As much as it sucked losing and being oh so close to rendering his feat as a non event twice at the end, Im actually so glad I stayed up to the wee hours here and got to watch that live. It was truly incredible and **** me if that wasn't one of the tensest last half hours I've ever had watching cricket. That run out, the dropped catch, the absolutely mad review and then the non LBW all whilst Stokes is just smashing the ball all over the park and seeing that total just get eroded away at a rate of knots!

Despite the absolute howler from the umpire, Im kind of glad he pulled it off in the end too. He deserved it! It would've been so cruel to lose that right at the end there. No matter who you support, seeing sporting feats like that kind of neutralises us as fans IMO. How can you not cheer him on as an individual.

Joel Wilson is still an absolutely useless cunt though.

That sort of thing transcends rivalry. I think id have been the same the other way round. Hate to lose, but witnessing history in the process helps. (Dont know that any Kiwis would say that )

But its set up the final 2 tests to be absolute barn burners. Manchester is going to be rocking in 8 days.

Nah, Wade's keeping is only marginally better than his bowling. Tim will be behind the stumps until Carey takes over.

Yep, I feel I should be more disappointed with the result than I am. Stokes was like a force of nature, turned the game almost single handedly, not just that innings but the way he bowled his heart out in the last session of day 2. Shades of Botham in '81.

Unbelievable that they butchered that run out.

Jimmy was bowling at Boughton Hall in Chester today for the Lancs 2nd XI. I wanted to go for an hour of the afternoon session but the other two I was with had meetings. Went for the morning and saw him bowl 1 over haha

He bowled some overs for them on Thursday and / or Friday I think.

Presumably if he was out there again today, he must have been feeling fairly good.

Its absolutely ridiculous that he's not the keeper TBH. He's good with the gloves and the boy can bat.

Instead they'll keep going with Paine because he's a good bloke....but can't bat for ****.

We sort that top order out, **** off Khawaja from stinking out the joint and we've got a decent side. There must be some young top order batman without massive flaws coming through that deserve a shot. Or are all youngsters just geared up for 20/20 now and absolutely woeful in test match conditions?

I'd leave him out if he's not 100% but it's his home ground next isn't it?

                            Replace Woakes possibly?

Looks like be bowled 20 overs yesterday without any issues.

If he is fit he would rightly come back into the team. It would be hard on Woakes though.

Almost certainly I think if he is properly fit.
