I take it everyone saw the Athers blooper yesterday? I was in tears.

For those who missed it, club cricket was back in England yesterday so Athers invited club players / viewers to send in their achievements on the day.

    Some wag sent this in

Sorry, you're going to have to explain that.

I've a small brain but surely there's more to it than the funny name of Cockermouth.

The joke itself is fairly lame - Hugh Jardon, 6-9, Cockermouth. It's the corpsing that killed me.

I found it amusing because Atherton is exactly the type who would get stitched up by something like that. 'Cockermouth, Ben Stokes old club' got me, still oblivious whilst everyone else were killing themselves.

On the cricket, thought West Indies did quite well to recover from the awful start they had. Definitely deserved it for being the better over the 4 days. Both teams have good bowlers but fragile batting (sounds like almost every other test match in the last 3 years). No wickets from Roach is an eye opener, he'll look to improve in the next match.

On Denly, it's weird. He looks really good at the crease and bats for long periods of time doing all of the hard work, then inexplicably finds ways of getting himself out once he's set. It's usually before he's even started to cash in, he's gone for 20-40 rather than 40-60. I think he should be one of England's best batsmen but I wonder how long he'll last. Although he's exactly what teams need in this fragile batting environment.

Thought it turned into a really good contest after the rain buggered off.

Its always a shame that these 3 match series seem to be the most competitive, and they are over before they begin. Even those ****ty little 2 match series against NZ or something.

I was hungover as **** yesterday, so put in a solid day on the sofa.

Blackwoods innings was superb. Came in with WI in trouble on 27/3 saw of the bowlers and built the platform for the win.

Would have got his 100 with about 15 mins more work and application.

Isn’t there something like 6 tests in 6 weeks?

Aren’t Broad and Anderson approaching their 40’s now? Need to start blooding replacements sooner or later.

England have announced that paceman Jofra Archer has been dropped from the second Test at Emirates Old Trafford “following a breach of the team’s bio-secure protocols”. Archer has apologised to his teammates and management and will now self-isolate for five days.

“I am extremely sorry for what I have done,” said Archer. “I have put, not only myself, but the whole team and management in danger. I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the bio-secure bubble.

“It deeply pains me to be missing the Test match, especially with the series poised. I feel like I have let both teams down, and again I am sorry.”

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board said: “Archer will now commence five days of isolation and will undergo two Covid-19 tests in this period, which have to test negative before his self-isolation period is lifted. The West Indies team have been made aware and are satisfied with the measures that have been imposed.”

While it is not yet clear what Archer did to contravene the rules, any such breach is sure to have invoked disbelief and fury at the ECB. At one stage there were serious concerns that the entire English summer programme would be wiped out by Covid-19 – with chief executive Tom Harrison outlining that the worst-case estimates for that scenario involved a near £400m loss to the game.

West Indies’ willingness to travel and take part in the series was, therefore, a huge boost and involved much meticulous planning. For an individual to have put the mutual trust at risk will, in the circumstances, be seen as a matter of utmost seriousness.

Is Burns actually taking the piss there? You couldn't be more straight infront if you tried and he reviewed it. Really wonder what goes through players minds sometimes, definitely not what the review system was introduced for.

Didnt realise why Jofra had been 'dropped'.

The potential is that he could have written off all of the summer plans for Cricket.
