Just seen the clip now. Clearly not out. Need to use the catching hand to stablise himself from the effort exerted to get tot he ball and in the process ball touches ground. Shouldn't be close to a debate

How is there even a debate? Aussies like McGrath calling it "a total disgrace"

Yeah, he steadied himself using the ball to do so. It’s not out and mental it’s even a discussion.

Hmm, it’s not as clear cut as you lot are making out he clearly has it in his hand for an extended period of time, and certainly pretty clear to see why it’s contentious.

Which ever team doesn’t get that would be raging imo. You see catches taken and celebrated with the ball in hand for less time.

No idea why Starc doesn’t just fall onto his side? He has made the catch.

Will add a bit of venom to the early overs today.

I think it's pretty straightforward as Erasmus explains here

(I'd post the tweet to embed, but I can't obviously)

Yeah, I agree it’s ‘not out’ because of the way the rules are written, but that’s a catch. I think Starc puts the ball to ground because he thinks he has completed the catch. It’s certainly not ‘dropped’ - so it’s ‘not out’ on a technicality. Australia will have to suck that one up.

You can guarantee it’s not something Starc (or any other boundary fielder) will do again - wonder what the cost will be to Australia because it was a massive get out of jail moment for England.

It is set up for the Stokes miracle innings, and they are heavily leveraging this in TMS to keep interest.

Aussies really going to miss Lyon, day 5 wicket and no frontline spinner.

Lyon is a big miss for them. Think if and the when the Aussies get one we’ll see a few quick wickets

Yep, breaking this partnership feels pivotal. England have a long tail after Bairstow.
