One is a fielder pushing the ball into the floor to steady himself and claim the catch, the other is someone running out a player obviously not attempting a run. He out his crease and the letter of the law says he is out but I'd rather cricket not turn in to a sport full of absolute cunts like football

He’d already caught it though. It was also a technicality.

Post match interviews could be a bit spicy.

Tell yourself whatever you want. But Starc caught that ball he had full control of it and all he was doing was braking his fall. Sure to the letter of the law its not out because the ball touched the ground (despite being well and truly in his hands prior), fair enough. It's ****, but thats the rules as they stand.

Just like if youre a braindead moron and continually leave your crease before the play is dead/over is called, then don't cry when you get stumped. Carey was onto him doing it. He threw the ball straight away and Bairstow was still in his crease when it left his hand.

I was raging at the time and called the Aussies all sorts but Bairstow was lackadaisical to put it mildly.

Incredible stuff from Stokes today, ****ing spine-tingling. Just a shame about the rest of 'em.

Personally I’d have liked to see (as a neutral who has been to see England play a few times) the catch given and Bairstow not out. So I guess they balance out.

The MCC can confirm it has suspended three Members identified from earlier today. Bartholomew Frinton-Smythe, Humphrey Wigbert-Porter, and Quinten Breckenridge will not be permitted back to Lord’s whilst the investigation takes place and were informed of this by MCC Chief Executive, Guy Lavender, this evening. We maintain that the behaviour of a small number of Members was completely unacceptable and whilst there was no suggestion by Pat Cummins in the post-match press conference that there was any physical altercation, it remains wholly unacceptable to behave in such a way which goes against the values of the Club. MCC condemns the behaviour witnessed and once again we re-iterate our apology to Cricket Australia. We are thoroughly disappointed to be talking about poor behaviour when the Long Room. as stated by Pat Cummins himself, is otherwise renowned for being “really welcoming”. It has been a thrilling day to finish off a wonderful five days of Test cricket.”

I think back to the one dayers last year when Butler refused to complain after I think Wood got shoved out of the way when trying for a run out, Butler refused and the game went on. Surprised a little, given how friendly the series has been played out, but, now a menace has been brought into it, and the Aussies are going to get a brunt of hostility from the English crowds. But jeez, suspending a few privileged nobheads, given the amount of siht the Aussies give when at home is ****ing laughable.
