I agree, nobody watches Cricket to see that happen in an innings. I wonder if it would have happened if the decision on Starcs catch had gone the other way?

Starc's 'catch' doesn't come into it, he grounded the ball whilst controlling his body momentum, so not out was a pretty simple decision for the TV umpire to make...as Erasmus said, if he catches it and then slides into the rope it's a four or six, as the catch isn't complete until you have both ball and body under control. Starc should have just rolled, taking the catch cleanly. Player error, and nothing to do with England as the 3rd umpire made the decision whilst the English player was already walking of the field.Last edited by Scratch; 04-07-23, 11:47 AM.

Of course it is. All these dodgy keeper dismissals catching the other player out are.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostAh, no I don't think he is.

I don't know what I think tbh. I mean it's clearly out in the laws of the game so England can have no argument really, and I wouldn't be complaining. But also I do think it was a bit shifty. Dunno. I still haven't made my mind up what I think about the Mankad, and this was similar to that I think.
The 'spirit of the game' stuff is so nebulous it probably needs some sort of extra clarity, but I guess the whole point of it is vague so extra clarity probably isn't possible
But we're long past this being a gentleman's game now. Too much pride on the line.
I just find it funny the two most vocal people over this are Broad and Mccullum. One knicked the absolute **** out of the ball to slips and refused to walk and the other ran someone out for celebrating their teammates century

What would Chappell do

As Buzzo said, Broad is a total ****house so it's rich coming from him
Btw I found this longer clip of Beefy and Chappell, dunno if you saw it. Apparently the full show was an hour long, I need to see that ****!

Letter of the law it’s out. Same as the stumping. In reality it’s a catch.Originally posted by Scratch View PostStarc's 'catch' doesn't come into it, he grounded the ball whilst controlling his body momentum, so not out was a pretty simple decision for the TV umpire to make...as Erasmus said, if he catches it and then slides into the rope it's a four or six, as the catch isn't complete until you have both ball and body under control. Nah. Mankad is when the player is actively trying to gain an advantage. No way it could be reasonably interpreted Bairstow was trying to gain any advantage.Originally posted by Alex View PostI think it is what it is tbh, as Shaggy said. Its like a Mankad.Football without Origi is nothing

Brilliant. Botham talks about filling him in about 5 times in that short clip. Anyone finds the full thing put it in hereOriginally posted by Shaggy View Post

Was he though? Carey threw it immediately. Bairstow was still in his crease when it left his hand and the ump hadn't even moved.Originally posted by Liverpool View PostHe's still striking there though and not walking to the middle. You can see the umpire was already walking on Sunday as well.
Both teams are battered, makes no sense to not make a few changes to freshen up the team.
All these clips are just different iterations of the same thing. Wicket-keeping ****housery
