    Broad retiring

17 more wickets takes him to fourth all time test bowler. Seems a bit rash to go out in such good form

Reading between the lines, he wanted to be at home more, spend some time with the family. I think he has a couple of pubs that he owns also.

We've started our 2nd innings well, 77 for zip. All to play for.
Love the Oval, far more than Lords

This Oval pitch is as lifeless as it was when I've been. No swing, little bounce, nothing.

              Aussies digging in.

Impressive opening partnership for day 4. I wonder if the Broad news had been a bit too much of a distraction?

Not sure. I just think our bowling attack at times is poor. We struggled in the first two tests and at Old Trafford in the break in rain, wickets weren't exactly tumbling. Australia have batted well. But not giving the ball to Wood until 33 overs is odd. Ali is injured and should be a good option for this pitch. Anderson should be taking Broads lead and retiring. Ultimately we batted well yesterday until the last hour and gave our wickets away, we should have got to 450.

165 runs with 7 wickets remaining seems very doable.

                        148

They are scoring quickly with some big hitters to come.

What a catch. That's absolutely key to England winning this test

The rain has really taken the excitement out of this series.

Apparently 52 overs left to play today.

                                We might get a conclusion
