It hurts though. My God it hurts. I love the sprinting off part, but the recovery after while you try to keep jogging is a killer.

Got the following pencilled in for the remainder of the week:

    Thurs: 6.8km
    Friday: 10km
    Sat: rest
    Sun: 6km

That should give me a total 69.5km and will finally take me past Rowan . Assuming he doesn't run this weekend?

Gonna join in, done 16k so far in March. But my achilles tighten up on Sunday after about 4K in to my run, had to walk back home. It has hurt since, even when i am walking. I'm hoping it won't be a long layoff

I'm going tonight after work and will take the Garmin with me this time to map my route.

Will get another run done Saturday, hopefully a longer one and will start keeping track of it properly from then.

I have a rough idea of how far I've ran so I could calculate it I guess, it's not far though. I'll add it up afterwards.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Ouch, be careful Achilles problems affect me too. You need to manage them and not push it.

Good stuff Slinks. Just estimate what you've done so far and update the table. I bet you'll get an extra run or two in this month that you wouldn't have because of this thread. It all helps and it'll have you feeling much better.

I was going to ask, what do people use to track their runs?

I've tried a few apps but have settled with RunKeeper as the interface is good, it links easily with my HRM and has lots of good training programs linked if you can be bothered.

Keep toying with the idea of a watch but seems like a lot of money just to replicate what I already have (plus I won't be able to listen to my tunes without my iphone anyway).

Cardiotrainer for me. I had achilles problems once I went over 5k. Get very them a good stretch before and after any run now and they're grand. Stretching - for me anyway - is vital. Look up stuff on coolrunning or any of the other running sites/forums. Tons of advice.

with the heart rate monitor, records altitude/map of the route/pace etc uploads on to the polar website which stores what you have done. Takes a little while for the watch to find a gps signal but once it does it never drops.

I think it's the flat shoes i'm trying which is all the trend these days on running minimalist. too much too soon, i'm guessing.

I have a pair of NB vibram that I don't use for running but I think you're supposed to introduce them into your running regime 10% of the distance at a time or something. Blasting straight into it from wearing all sorts of different supported shoes might cause damage. I'm open to correction on that though. They're fairly comfortable though.

Endomondo is perfect. Its pretty deep with stats if you like that, and its a nice clean interface.

I might keep banging on about it. But try Couch to 5k from the NHS. You can get the Podcasts. Really helped me.

Just done another 5km from work...this was a bit easier than the previous one. Finished work at 5pm and felt the usual brain dead/tired/zoned out self that u feel after work like slinks has mentioned..

However straight from work I called in to the range and hit 100 balls, then home changed and straight out for a run.....straight away I felt much more alert and warmed up...reckon the 40 mins or so at the range must have got my blood pumping and brain switched on a bit

I use endomondo premium. Got the paid app version on my smartphone and paid £19.99 for the online premium. I have tried others but not found anything I prefer. Bought a second hand garmin forerunner 310 on eBay but don't see any benefit other than not having to wear an arm strap for the smart phone. I like the fact that endomondo talks to me so I know what my pace is for each kilometre.
