Or just **** it off entirely and go down the hard veg route?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

The other thing that I needed to do was more resistance and weight training in between the cardiovascular exercise.
Sure. Within reason, obviously. Everything in moderation and all that. I had much the same discussion yesterday with my daughter.

It's all about balance, including, as you say, between different forms of exercise.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm vegetarian so can't really avoid the stuff. There are defo tastier alternatives though.

That said they've just started making a pepperoni slices alternative that taste jolly nice in a toastie with a slice of laminated cheese

I finally caved and checked how many calories there are in beer.

Drinking 2,175 daily calories doesn't leave much room for food.

I give up on getting in good shape.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

New research recommends half a unit of alcohol a day. That's less than two pints of beer or maybe a large glass of wine per week.

Even I drink almost twice that much. Most of you lot are doomed.

Good idea, I imagine I'd be in much better shape than anyone else there and would feel much better about myself. :
