    BTCC thread

Anyone here into the BTCC at all?

Started again last week at Brands Hatch, massive field this year and it promises to be some quality racing.

Go to Oulton Park every year to watch it, it's some great racing. Being a Honda man my favourite driver is Gordon "Flash" Shedden, fearless driver!

Definitely mate, far more exciting and the racing is quality. Cars nudging each other, proper close racing.

Yeah, hire cars with 300 odd brake ha ha!

It's better racing than ****ty F1 with decent drivers who actually know how to drive. I reckon if you stuck half these touring car drivers in an F1 car they'd embarrass most of the F1 drivers.

What's wrong with the tracks? We can't have Bahrain style tracks everywhere FFS!

Used to have the game for the PS1 proper years ago. Never watched it though, might give it a watch.
They say our days are numbered were not famous anymore but Scousers rule the country like we've always done before!

TOCA was ace. Loved the games but I always got DQ'd for being too aggressive

Saturday afternoons as a kid watching this was brilliant

TOCA still have some involvement in the BTCC AFAIK, not sure in what way though.

I know up until a couple of years ago they had something to do with the cars switching from Super 2000 to NGTC (New generation touring cars).

I remember playing the old TOCA games on the play station back in the day, back when all the cars were non-aspirated. All turbocharged now but still makes for great racing.

Are you an aggressive driver in real life?

Think you have to be as a Touring car driver, it's that kind of discipline. If you're not and don't fight your way through the pack you'll get left behind.

Think that's why I find it so exciting.

BTCC isn't what it was for me. Spec car, drivers who really shouldn't be there. It has become a clubbie championship.

If I had £300,000 I'm sure even I could qualify mid grid.
Winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win you are still a retard!

I do agree to a certain extent that some are just bums who have the money and decided to join the championship but the front runners are very talented drivers, many of whom have been in the BTCC for a good while some over a decade such as Matt Neal and Plato.

I guess if you're a semi decent motorsport driver and do have the cash you could do it but it's still an exciting championship. Yesterday's racing was brilliant, really exciting to watch.

                          I was doing this

I agree BTCC isn't what it was, reckon ITV had a big hand in killing it off when they bought the rights along with the F1 years back. As soon as they lost F1, they lost interest in covering it and would put it on their dodgy little channels with no advertising when it was on. Losing all the works teams from the competition ruined it too. And Matt Neal - proper cunt. To compare the drivers to F1 is proper lol though, there have been jobbing former F1 drivers who have come in and dominated BTCC - Winckelhock and Morbidelli are two just off the top of my head.

I watched a bit of the World Touring Cars the other day - they were all Civics, Chevrolets and Ladas!

It did look a bit Europcar with bodykits

I don't watch the WTCC so can't comment on what it's like.

I imagine the cars are similar specced, there is actually a good broad make of vehicles in the BTCC this year. The field is massive.
