    James Anderson

    I've been following the cricket down under of late and the only English bowler to be in any sort of form seems to be James Anderson. He's been getting both wickets and reverse swing and seems to have recovered well from injury.

    Does anyone else think there is a case for including him in the team for the first test even at the expense of Monty?

    There is definitely a case to be made. He has done really well to get himself back from injury and seemingly improve his bowling technique at the same time. I still have lingering quetions about his mental toughness, but then I guess he broke into the team when he was very inexperienced. He certainly deserves consideration.

      Andersons inclusion would mean Ash Giles taking the spinners spot, but his bowling is not as **** as the Aussies would have you believe.

        Cook, Strauss, Bell, Pieterson, Flintoff, Collingwood, Jones, Hoggard, Harmison Panesar, Anderson.

        That'd be my team but looking at it, that's one hell of a long tail.

            We'll only play one spinner in Brisbane. It's the fastest pitch in the counry right now, even more so than Perth.

            Monty is the more attacking option as a bowler but Giles is the better batsmen.

            I reckon play the four pace bowlers: Hoggard, Harmison, Anderson & Flintoff and put Monty straight in there.

            Seems a bit daft developing him and bringing him over and then going straight back to Giles who hasn't played seriously for a year.

              I agree that Panessar is a better spinner than Giles. However Hoggard at number 8 makes for a very long tail.

                  Anderson will be in instead of Mahmood, Panesar has got to be instead of Giles as Ashley is the single most dullest bowler in the history of cricket.

                  His inclusion will increase the chances of games ending in a draw which England can't afford to be aiming for.
