It's hilarious how despite being utterly unsuited to the format Cook waltzes back into the team to open the batting. The hope that one day he will losen the shackles and develop a dynamic fast scoring style of play.

Sadly it's the same story over and over again the England cricket side have become a complete farce - Cook isn't a ODI player and shouldn't be playing this format but as he's the golden boy of the selectors he can do no wrong.

Its a joke of a decision. The more the ECB dig their heels in the more ludicrous it appears. You sense there is the makings of a half decent team if they jettison Cook.

The joke of it is that ironically Cooks efforts to adapt his game to make him a better ODI batsman have taken away from the qualities he had as an opening test batsman, making him less of a force in either format.

Laughable all round really.

That as a ODI opener is appalling. He needs to be bombed out and Moores shouldn't be getting of lightly either - his record since taking over again must be right up there

Cook has now scored one half-century in his last 21 ODI innings. It is 30 months and 45 innings since he reached 80 in an ODI. And to make his embarrassment all the more acute, the only ODI series England have won this year came in the Caribbean when Cook (and other 50-over players) were rested to provide opportunities for the shorter-format specialists ahead of the World T20. The last time England won an ODI series under Cook was in New Zealand at the start of 2013, meaning they have won one of the last nine ODI series under his captaincy.

That is truly appalling we must have talent that is far more deserving at the top order than him in the short format at the very least.

We had a great couple of years at the top which had almost made me forget what a shambles the ECB are thankfully the way things have been done these past couple of years has jogged my memory of how its run by the old boys brigade who're utterly inept.

On Cook, he has started well today. 20 off 26, confident start. But hes had a lot of them recently.
