If you’d told me England would lose Cook and Root cheaply then I’d be predicting a rout.

The fact the Newbs have stuck around is quite impressive. I reckon the Aussies went too far in the pre match slang fest, all the career ending chat has clearly galvanised some players who are normally walking wickets.

We didn't lose the test/series on day one at the gabba, that's about as good as we could have hoped. Test Match finely in the balance, if Mo, Malan, Bairstow and Woaks can put on 200 between them then we are in the box seats, lose some quick wickets in the morning and Australia are. It's been excellent test cricket.
