We also played some terrific cricket in the last test but when you have a group of young players at the core of the side you are going to ups and downs. It also doesn't help when the captain puts the opposition in

What's unbelievably unfair? That I can't recall ever scoring 400 in a day since 2005?

Or that England are now a **** team?

Cos both are true and neither is remotely unfair.

Thought you were saying we were **** because we haven't scored 400 in a day since then

I actually think we are close to having a really good side. But yeah we are a bit ****. Fine lines.

          No man

We have some redeeming features now, but we're still ****, we still carry too many passengers and our batting is as flaky as it gets.

The point was it was ridiculous for Joe a Root to say they were going to chase this down. England are the least likely team to go for it, let alone do it.

I watched the last hour. NZ well in control. It's a scandal that they don't get to play a decider, these have been 2 cracking tests.

Five ****ing wank ODIs now, in advance of an Ashes series. Who gives a **** about that? Surlely another Test, or even another two, would've been more beneficial prep for the Ashes.

££££££££££ playing tests to get ready for the Ashes would make sense of course

Given how poor England are at ODIs it is hard to disagree. On the other hand look at how New Zealand have used ODI/T20 to energize their test team.

We can just treat the series as extended catching practice.

Well we arguably would get more time in the field during a test match than the 5 ODIs

ODIs start tommorow. Anyone interested? Some large scores from some of the England lads this weekend in the T20s. Root looked decent, so did Ballance (Not in the squad), Ali and Buttler.

Itll be nice to see how much we have learnt from the WC about being too conservative and not going after bigger scores.

Will be interesting to see if the stats based approach has been abandoned. Could be a chastening series, but they may as well show some intent particularly in finding opening batsmen that know how to score quickly.

I think a few games against a big hitting side could do them wonders for a mindset shift. A couple of games in they might realise they just need to start swinging.
