Is he the answer though? I've not really watched much county cricket. Only T20. So ive no clue on the longer form.

Prior has retired from all forms.

Before the whole thing with KP I thought he was great. Used to do really well with the bat and keep wicket pretty efficiently. Think he was a good part of us getting to world number 1.

Yeah I used to love him. Went right off him. Seems an absolute bellend of a bloke. No surprise he's great mates with that other tit Broad.

FWIW I think Buttler will surpass him in terms of Legacy though. Hes brilliant

The future of English cricket is really bright at the moment. If Rashid fulfills the promise he has shown this season he could be the front line spinner we are after. Been a while since we have had a good Leg Break bowler hasnt it?

You do wonder if giving bowlers time at county level (perhaps mixed with other leagues about the world) is better than getting them into the international team when they are young. Particularly for spin bowlers where learning variety and tactics (and hence bowling more overs) is really important. IIRC Swann didn't get a regular England position until he was a bit older. Hopefully Rashid is now in a position to make a bid for more frequent games for England.

Swann made his test debut in 2008 according to Wiki. When he was 29. So its a good point.

NZ win the toss and bat first.

Judging by the weather down here they will be on and off a bit.
