Root on 52 but his back is playing up again, becoming a regular problem.
I'm surprised more isn't made of this. He seems to have to have the physio out every time he spends any length of time at the crease. Could end up like Atherton with a long term chronic back problem.
Dont know if they will, but Id like to see us bat all day here. Just build a colossal lead and then try and knock the Aussies over without the need for a second innings.

I agree, think we'll probably end up being bowled out before tea though.
TBH with the lead of 200 odd at the moment, I cant see the Aussies beating that in their second innings unless all of their batsmen find form. Which they wont.
I'd have liked to see us declare with a 200 lead and force them to face a couple of overs without a chance to sleep on it and get their heads straight.
I'm not a fan of declaring 1st innings, but this time......think wed have smashed 'em pretty quick.

The lead is already 216!
I can see England trying to bat until tea. The lead would be gargantuan by then, Aussies will have spent a day in the field, then a few hours to collect some wickets. An early declaration offers Australia some meagre hope, you wouldn't will fully offer that.
I wouldn't be expecting to see England bat again, and there is an outside chance it could all be over today.
