I was listening to TMS and some of the commentary was embarrassing, Basically saying that with the conditions what do people expect. This is the typical result, any series win in Aus for England was a result of Australian weakness.
What's the ****ing point in it all then?
That's a shocker from England, Smith is showing England's senior batsmen what it is to score a big test hundred. Marsh has turned his first 100 into a 180. They could chuck grenades at Smith and he'd bat them away. No plans. No strategies. Just getting comprehensively beaten.Modifying post.

It's fairly true though. Oz and UK pitches are massively different and produce different types of bowlers, hence they don't have meany seamers and we don't have many quicks. Dry = bounce, clouds = swing. And it's not just the bowlers, the batsmen have experience of the pitch conditions too.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI was listening to TMS and some of the commentary was embarrassing, Basically saying that with the conditions what do people expect. So unless you have an exceptional team it's usually going to go to home side.
I had hoped their batting side was exceptionally poor enough to do it for us, but alas they found form at the right time. Or we bowled them into form. Either or.
And the point is to rise up enough to win an overseas ashes. It's a massive achievement.

I agree slightly also, but given the prestige of the Ashes perhaps England should have spent the last few years building a suitable side. Develop a front line spinner and some pace. But it doesn’t explain Aus success in England over the years. The other possibility is that this England team excluding one or two players is pretty ****.
As it stands giving Root the captaincy has pretty much nullified England’s most potent weapon.
I reckon this will spell the end of He road for a few, as the Aussies predicted.Modifying post.

16 years since they won in England. And that massive one sided stretch was down to them having one of the strongest teams ever assembled, it comes under exceptional.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostBut it doesn’t explain Aus success in England over the years.
And you can't just develop a talent purely for the overseas Ashes. Or do you expect us to somehow force Sheffield Shield to adopt some English bowlers to prep them for us?

Whatever.
I’m just saying that it is not impossible for England to win an away ashes. The excuses being offered out devalue the entire series to almost make it seem pointless.
England have been absolutely shocking for pretty much this entire series, that’s the cold hard facts.Last edited by Buzzo; 16-12-17, 11:47 PM.Modifying post.

A spinner of ability and a genuine pace bowler would have made a huge difference. This Aussie side is no Taylor, slater, Waugh etc,.. quality side they’ve just got a very poor bowling attack to face which has made them look well above the quality they really are. Last five test series they’ve lost to Sri Lanka, SA, India they’ve drawn with Bangladesh and beaten India.
Not the world beaters of the past more we’re proper ****

Exactly. The excuses, being offered yesterday on TMS, and then backed up by the England camp were poor.
It's a tour too far for a few of them - but there is no contingency.Last edited by Buzzo; 17-12-17, 12:03 PM.Modifying post.
