Other than a few poor drop shots Medvedev didn’t do much wrong really. Nasal was relentless. Any key point and his shot selection was perfect. His temperament is incredible.
The greatest tennis player in history? If that’s what it took to earn it then it is deserved.
Some of the finals over the last few years in men’s slam tennis are the perfect illustration of the minuscule difference between winning and losing. Two players giving absolutely everything.
Thought Medvedev's biggest fault was consistently avoiding the open court and trying to outfake Nadal by going back to where he was, but Rafa was always there waiting...possibly cos Rafa was just too tired to chase anything down.
That and his drop shot...woeful, either far to high or not making it over the net at all. Left himself a sitting duck.
If things dont improve up to and after Wimbledon then I reckon he is done. Such a shame that injury lessened his legacy and impact, same as it has with Dep Potro.
Murray has gone back to Lendl as his coach. Done well with him before, wonder if he can get him back to challenging again rather than the odd match here and there
