    PrideFC/UFC



    Ok I am so obsessed with Pride Fighting Championships and UFC now.

    I first saw clips of Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic on the net and for my birthday my friends got me heaps of UFC DVDs and downloaded the Pride GP for me where CroCop won.

    Any other follows of the sport out there?

    It's absolutely awesome stuff. I like Pride my self because it's more brutal and I like brutality.

    The stomping and kicking them while they are down makes Pride more enjoyable IMO. It seems more realistic and more exciting. Also MIIIIRKOOOOO CROOOOOCOP fights in it! He is farken awesome!

    cro cop is an awesome fighter, possibly the best ive seen yet.
    Although all I have seen of him is over the net, never live TV, which is a shame.
    Would love to see him going over to the UFC for an invitational fight agaisnt Liddell or someone like Arlovski(if he was lighter).
    Would fear for Liddell though, as CroCop seems to have much more in his game, his high kicks are awesome and seem to cause the most damage. but really he seems dangerous from any position.

      Love UFC, not seen any PrideFC stuff tho, methinks I should check it out.
      Gotta say I do like Ortiz, purely for the complete cu*tishness of the man, altho not at the standard of Liddel, hes a good fighter, his ground and pound is practically unstoppable.

      Matt Hughes became a favourite of mine when I saw an interview with him about what he does before fights. He walks around the octagon looking for the hardest points of the floor where the girders connect, remembers where they are then dumps the opponent on them during fights, that to me is simply class!!

      Also, keep meaning to look out for how Matt Bisping is doing in the UFC, he was a British fella who entered the Ultimate Figter 3. I rated him and was hoping he was on a card by now.

        Actually I heard somewhere that there was talk they wanted Liddell and CroCop to fight. CroCop is just so deadly with his strikes, his whole left side is awesome. Been doing some reading up and the only reason they believe he hasn't been so succesful in the past was because he was poor at fighting on the ground. However he hired a Brazilian Jujitsu expert to teach him and has also worked on his stamina. They were crucial in him winning the Pride GP at Final Conflict Absolute. He's always been deadly on his feet and striking.

        I got 20 UFC DVDs/CDs from my friend so am going to have an UFC fest next week and watch them all after I've finished my exams.

        Ortiz gets on my nerves because of his attitude but I saw the fight between him and Liddell and that was a good one. Glad Ortiz lost though.

        My friend downloaded Pride Final Conflict Absolute for me. If you guys haven't seen it I suggest downloading, some good stuff in it and CroCop at his best!

            How can their be a MMA thread without mentioning the might Fedor?

            THe man is a mahcine. He'd pretty much take any of the UFC guys with one hand behind his back and he's already accounted for Cro-Cop in Pride.

                has anyone ever died in this? cause a kick to the head like that can easily cause a massive brain injury.

                whats with the shorts, the other guys wear normal fighting shorts....but he has croat style boxer briefs......gaaaaaaay

                  I remember a conversation Dana white had with some Amreican chat show host, he mentioned nobody had died, imnot sure if that was just the UFC or all the big mixed martial arts events.
                  And yes, Crocop's shorts are very gay. Cant say I focus on them though.

                    CroCop can wear whatever he damn well wants! :P

                    They can break bones etc, it's up to the ref to stop the fight or the boxer to tap out. I'd say people have died in illegal prize fighting like this but this is more professional.

                      still it would only take a kick in the "sweet spot" and you would be a vegetable for life.

                      give me a good ol fashioned Pikey fight anyday over this professional ****e

                        I've only done my fist flag at the moment. Want to do the bird and a "Baixinho" banner as well. I ordered an overhead projector from Ebay so I don't bug Cricket all the time. :P

                          I ordered pikey fighting on DVD before on Ebay. It was absolute ****e. One fight went on for over an hour with both lads not committing. ****ing crap it was, the odd alright fight, but nothing special, they are not fit and have no technique, some of them are quite vicious though and they seem to have rules aswell. Well it beats them shooting each other i suppose lol.

                            Any of you fellas heard of a fighter called Kimbo?

                            He's a huge black guy who takes part in bareknuckle fights. He's an absolute monster.

                            I've seen one fight where he utterly destroy's another fighters eye / eye socket. Not nice stuff.

                            To be fair however the majority of his fights appear to be totally mis-matched. I don't think he's stand a chance in MMA unless he trained [alot]

                            There are plenty of his fights on youtube.

                              I saw a K1 fight years ago where a guy fought a guy twice his size. He had to jump in the air to punch him in the head. It was hilarious, but the smaller guy one. CroCop has smashed this big black guy who plays in some movies too. Knocked him out in 80 odd seconds with a punch to the head.
