    Kersal Massive

    Remember them?

Well apparently they are doing a "guest set" at a nightclube near me on Saturday night. Only problem is that I have the flu. My brother is 100% going so either way I'll post a report

It was one of the funniest things I ever saw. And it reminds me of this.

A few years ago, as a street youth worker, (Yes, I got paid for talking to children in the street!) we had a black geezer from Leeds coming down and doing some music 'workshop' (cringe at the term) for a group of white middle class 14/15 year olds.
Now Dave, or 'BOOMER' as he was called, was as cool as they come. Dreads, unfazed and just about as handsome as you can get. The epitome of 'cool'

While he was doing this music stuff with kids in 'Thornton-Le-Dale, in the middle of rural North Yorkshire, playing and mixing the gangster rap they all requested, a tall, 6'3" kid, weighing in at 3 stone wet, said to Boomer.

"I want to live thug life"

"Beg your pardon Eddie"? said Boomer.

"Thug life Boomer. I wanna live it"

Boomer looked him up and down for a few seconds and calmly said.

          "No you don't Eddie."

Next day, I saw Eddie walking through the picturesque little village with his mum, carrying her shopping. He really was such a good boy. Perhaps these lads are too, eh?

I could be wrong but didn't Dylan Thomas write that just prior to Undermilk Wood?

                Rappin is easy
"Through me the way into the suffering city,
Through me the way to the eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.
                Justice urged on my high artificer;
                My maker was divine authority,
The highest wisdom, and the primal love.
Before me nothing but eternal things were made,
                And I endure eternally.
Abandon every hope, ye who enter here."

                And like that… he's gone
