If it takes 10 minutes to cut a piece of wood into two pieces.

It must take another 10 minutes to cut the third piece, no?

In order to cut the third piece you're not doing any more sawing than you would need it than when you cut the original piece into two.

You're correct. That's the point of the picture. It's supposed to look like a teacher marked it wrong when it was right but as someone has pointed out, it's very easy to fake.
