I love the work of Finnish artist Vesa Lehtimäki aka Avanaut, a brilliant illustrator and photographer who likes to take pictures of his kids' toys in his spare time. Check out these series of Star Wars toys set in the real world. Some of them look so real that you may think he actually build 1:1 reproductions of the spaceships. Flying ones.

Hyper-realistic paintings are always fun to look at because your eyes and brain totally want to believe they're actual photographs even though you know they're not. It's like an internal conversation goes on in your head trying to talk your eyes out of what it sees. No, it can't be just a painting. Are you sure? But it always is just a drawing. A drawing more perfect than real life.
Visual News recently found the work of Jason de Graaf and they're incredible. He uses reflections to double the trick, creating a photorealistic orb or glass with a fake reality in them. He explains what he's trying to do:
My paintings are about staging an alternate reality, an illusion of verisimilitude on the painted surface. I try to use objects as a vehicle to express myself, tell a story or least hint at something beyond what is actually painted. Therefore I try to choose objects that have meaning to me or are artifacts from my life.
If you look closely at his paintings, you can probably see the imperfect perfection of drawn life but at first glance? It looks just like a photograph.

I appologise for offending you and the Mary whitehouse foundation....it's the 21st century if there are still people who find that offensive they need to grow some ballsOriginally posted by Chazza View PostSome people work in offices were those pics are not acceptable so a bit of consideration would have been nice.

It's a disciplinary offence at my office (and other Ester's I'd guess) to access sites that have any hint of boob, sideboob, cleavage, etc. Some simple NSFW tags would have made me view the post at home instead of loading up some tremendous assets on screen for my work colleagues to witness.
You're in the wrong Bender - take it on the chin and let it be.

Any photos that are even slightly NSFW are censored at the very least here. Usually they are removed all together.
Its to stop situations like Chazza and Muddled mentioned from happening. We used to have a NSFW forum on here. But if I remember Paul, AnfieldForever and MrM decided it was better to bin it off and point people in the direction of google for their sexy photo needs.
It seems like a strict policy, but I think its the only way. It leaves no grey areas. Sorry you feel aggrieved Benderihno. But thats just the way it is unfortunatly
*Except Michael, who died.
