And the 'bullfighter' may also need a bit of medication as well.

Spain's most feared bull prepares for swansong

Spain's most feared and famous bull, who gored his third victim to death last month, is to appear in the ring again but this time only professionals will be allowed to face him.

The bull was given the name Raton – meaning Mouse – because he was so small when he was born 11 years ago.

But the black bull with a distinctive triangular white marking between his lethal horns grew into a fearsome half-ton (1,100lb) beast that has thrilled spectators at local bullfighting fiestas across the Valencia region.

He has gored three men to death and seriously injured up to a dozen others in his seven-year career and now has his own entry in Wikipedia and thousands of fans on Facebook.

But village authorities have been embroiled in an ethical debate over whether to allow the bull to participate in the "bous al carrer" events – when amateurs attempt to dodge the horns of bulls in the ring – after the death of a local man in Xativa a month ago.

Raton drew huge crowds when he appeared at a fiesta in Sueca at the weekend amid tightened security to prevent amateurs under the influence of alcohol from joining in.

But in what is rumoured to be his last appearance before retirement, only four of the bravest and most experience bull dodgers will be allowed to face him.

Authorities at the town of Canals were considering cancelling his appearance at the "bous al carrer" event later this month but now say it will go ahead.

"The most bloodthirsty and cleverest bull ever" will be making an appearance on September 24, a notice on the town council website declared. "It is perhaps the last chance to see him in action."

The bull's owner, Gregorio de Jesus, who demands 15,000 euros each time Raton appears in the ring – more than five times that of any other bull – has said he wants to retire his prized animal.

The time has come to put him out to stud, he said, in the hope of breeding "some little Mouses" with a chance of inheriting the bull's agility, aggression, intelligence and speed.

                    "Bull dodger"

It sounds far less brave/stupid and far more innocent than 'bullfighter'.
