I'm pretty good on planes but I did have one landing a few years ago that was scary. We were I'd estimate no more than 200m in the air coming into land. The runway was virtually below us. All of a sudden the plane just dropped. I felt my stomach go like on a rollercoaster. It was terrifying. It seemed to level out about 100m off the ground. Then there was more turbulence still and the plane wobbled horribly before the wheels touched down and the pilot managed to steady it.

My heart was pounding after that one, there were some people in tears

That there shows the magnificent technology and build quality of the undercarriage.

Some of the movement in these jumbos landing is incredible. There is a particular side wind, or updraught that effects these planes, not a baisc 'strong side wind', but something more, planes are literally hurled sideways.

I'm sure there is footage out there, can't remember the name given to this phenomena either.
