YouTube girl tells of her 'skating' car ordeal

THE woman who became a web smash after being filmed bailing out of a car as it skidded on ice at Paignton has described the terror of her ordeal.
Almost 750,000 people have watched Becki Boustead on YouTube as she and her boyfriend leapt out of the car on a housing estate at Kings Ash.
The couple were in a Ford Fiesta which was filmed sliding out of control down steep Cotehele Drive.
The car slithered on black ice, picking up speed as it spun round a corner before ramming into a wall.
Halfway through the slide the pair frantically opened the doors and slid out. Passenger Becki, 21, slid down the ice on her bottom as the car, now facing backwards, overtook her.
She said: "People may find this funny, but nobody laughed at the time."
And her boyfriend the driver, who does not want to be named, narrowly escaped serious injury after he was partly dragged underneath.
Becki, a factory finance worker, said she was on her way to work at 8.45am on December 23 when the incident happened: "I didn't want to miss work.
"There were other neighbours sat in cars warming their engines.
"I assumed the roads had been gritted.
"We got out of our road fine, but it was when we came to turn left to go uphill at the junction that the car started sliding.
"It was terrifying. It all happened so quickly — I just remember my boyfriend telling me he didn't have control and that we'd better get out.
"I didn't want to get out — but I just jumped.
"It was like an ice rink. I couldn't even grip it with my nails to stop myself sliding. The car was so close to me.
"Some people who've seen the video think it's funny — I thought I was going to die."
The car eventually came to a halt against a wall and the pair were taken to Torbay Hospital by police.
The car was a write-off.
Becki received several bruises and her boyfriend damaged his ribs.
"I've been asked why did we jump out. It was that or stay in an out of control car that was gathering speed with the possibility of getting mangled.
"Looking back I think we did the right thing."
Saw her walking to work on Wednesday in 2 inches of snow. 3 inch stillettos, wet hair, no hat, lightweight coat
They were warned by their neighbour not to drive, and bailing out was her fella's idea. Watch closely and you'll see he leaves the car a few seconds before her.
Since then I've had threats, legal threats, people nicking the vid, abuse on local websites. All from "a certain group of people"

How can you prove it though? In the old days, yes - you'd have sent in the video. These days however it's all digital - anyone could say they recorded it on their camera or whatever and just send the file in by email / sd card.... probably a sterner contract now or something..Hello mert.Comment
