I watched a documentary on the deception in WWII, it was really good watch and so interesting. If you think mankind is a sneaky git these days, we had nothing on the ingenuity on the men back in 1940's. For the materials they had to hand they did some amazing stuff.

Indeed they did - especially the commandos and most of all the cryptologists. They came up with some ingenious spying/hacking technology.
