The question is would we have been able to strengthen the way we have if he'd stayed? The £50m we got for him has been very wisely reinvested. Keep in mind we've 'only' spent £35m net in the last two windows. We wouldn't have a squad anywhere near as good as we've got now had we kept Torres and 'only' spent £35m.

Thing is i genuinely think he regrets the move and if given the chance would come crawling back to liverpool....he was an amazing goal scorer ......if he felt at home at chelsea wit the club and fans and players he would have scored several goals by now but he doesn't belong there. At Liverpool he had a hunger for the game and he was loved by the fans

Torres' situation is vaguely reminiscent of the Ian Rush one IIRC. When Rush left he was ****ing lethal. Just a goalscoring machine of a player with 139 goals in 224 games for the club. When he returned from Juve just a year later he was, in spite of the fact he went on to score a very respectable 90 goals in 245 games, not the same player. I remember at the time after games the talk was of "he's looking sharp","you don't lose what he's got overnight" & "only a matter of time" that we're now hearing with Torres. Granted, as I said earlier he scored goals and won trophies with us in his second spell, yet he never really looked like the player that he once was despite him still being relatively young (27 I think) when he re-signed in 1988. He had had those few years all the top players have where they're right at the top of their game. After that you begin to wane and that's no disgrace IMO. It's my view that this is what we're watching now with Torres. A true great of the modern game who's had his best few years and is now on the way down even at a relatively young age. Like Rush all those years ago he's struggling to adapt in a team who's style of play doesn't resemble the one he flourished in. I'm bitter about him leaving and it would appear he's made, at best, a sideways step in joining the Chavs. Like I said I'm still extremely bitter at him leaving the club the way he did especially after the non stop stream of the "I love LFC and the fans" **** of previous years. **** him.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Shame he turned out to be a prick. He could have been the greatest player to play for LFC and he would have been amazing playing under kenny with our pass and move system but he decided the take the easy option and join the rent boys.
It's his loss and is career will go the same way as MO with no one really loving im.

Still can't believe he had no faith in us, the owners, or Kenny. Still can't believe he never gave us until the end of the season. Still find it hard that he's gone but life carries on.
It just shows how much his transfer still hurts us as this thread now has a couple of thousand posts and counting...Nowt wrong with lurking!
