He played ok, great work rate and was cleaning up as Can played very poorly. I'm not quite sure as regards Henderson. For me, he is not a DM and although his work rate is excellent.. it's just not his position.
IMO he is much better when he is allowed he get forward and get close to the goal. He's a nice passer and crosser of a ball and his stats were good 6 Goals 10 Assists last season, 4 Goals 7 Assists previous one. I know his shooting is poxy on times but I think he's been wasted playing so deep.
He's a decent player, not captain material IMO. I'd like to think that he is more than just a work horse player. We already have Can & Milner as work horses in that midfield, it's too samey. The CM needs to be more dynamic.

He has not been great this season, but I thought pn Saturday he had one of his better games. And, in the last 20 minutes or so - maybe from when Allan came on - he seemed to cut loose a bit and started popping up much further forward and to the left and right.
We are still at the early stages of the Klopp revolution but I see runners from midfield deep into the offensive positions being part of the finished product and Henderson could be ideal for that.

Surely he could take Milner's place as a RM and play Allen more centrally? Milner was poor again I thought on Sat.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostAgreed he needs to be higher up the pitch, but we have quite a few quality attacking players to fit into the team so it's a quandary figuring out where to fit Henderson in.

I would definitely have Allen in the team before Milner. Let Allen sit and push Henderson into a more progressive role.
Honestly though between Henderson, Milner, Can & Allen.... there is no real quality there. All decent all rounders and work hard but no real expert in any particular midfield role. IMO that's the problem.

Not a huge fan of Allen and yeah some players are better in bit part but to be fair to Allen, he was doing very well and deserved a run in the side. Milner, Henderson & Can haven't exactly been amazing. I just felt on merit he should have got a sustained chance.
IMO if Henderson wasn't captain & Milner wasn't vice captain.... both of either would have been dropped already given their performances this season. Difficult now that both have a position as such, sends a weird message when you drop the captain.Last edited by danperkins; 04-04-16, 03:41 PM.

I don't think Henderson, and possilbly even Milner, would have been dropped as both have the energy that Klopp requires from his midfield. It's why I am of the opinion that Henderson will still be a starter next year, alongisde Can and maybe Milner, maybe this new lad Grujic (sp?). Whether he's still captain is another debate.

The mercurial Jordan Henderson isn't going to let it stop him doing his duty. His country needs sideways hospital passes and he's not scared of suffering to make sure it gets them. True captain material.Originally posted by Our illustrious captain, leader of men"Maybe if I go to the Euros, I'll have some time off after that and then after the rest, hopefully it will have completely settled.
