Just mentioned on SSN and also on West Ham's website. Calum and his mother both suffered stab wounds at home in Bedford. Calum's mum is recovering whilst Davenport himself has been in surgery all day. Reportedly suffered wounds to both legs.

Whoever attacked them are proper sick bastards hope he recovers. Best wishes to the lad and his mum

Terrible news for the lad and his mum :(

They've arrested a 19 year old in connection with it.

They went for his legs so I imagine it was personally and not a botched robbery, etc. Bedford is a fucking scummy area.

Just been reading something on 606 about this.

Some chap 'broke' the news on 606 about 1pm today (much earlier than SSN or BBC did etc). Apparently Davenport died briefly and his legs are gone.

Seems a genuine post sadly.

So stabbed up and career/life runied for passing an opinion on and wanting whats best for his sister. Well that's just lovely. Them cunts better rot in jail for that. Vile behaviour. I'd love to know what goes through peoples minds in these situations, I'm facinated as to how someone would wake up one day and say to themselves, "right, lets go stab someone" and justify it in their head. Crazy

The boyfriend of footballer Calum Davenport's sister has appeared in court for allegedly stabbing the player in both legs with a kitchen knife.

The 25-year-old was also charged with attacking Davenport's mum
Worrell Whitehurst appeared at Bedford Magistrates' Court charged with attacking the 26-year-old West Ham defender.
The 25-year-old from Finsley Walk, Derby, is also charged with attacking Davenport's mother, Kim Stupple.
His pregnant girlfriend, Cara Davenport, the player's sister, was in court for Whitehurst's brief appearance.
She burst into tears when he was brought in.
Whitehurst has also been charged with driving whilst disqualified and possession of a blade.
A 19-year-old man arrested shortly after the incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Davenport had been on a night out with friends before the alleged attack in driveway of his mother's home in Springfield Avenue, Bedford.
He suffered heavy bleeding after being repeatedly stabbed in both legs and has since undergone emergency surgery at Bedford Hospital.
He is now in a serious but stable condition while his mother is recovering well.
Davenport cost West Ham £3m when he joined them from Tottenham during the summer of 2007.
He did not figure in the east London club's first game of this season at Wolves and has recently been linked with a move.
Bedford-born Davenport spent a spell on loan at Premier League rivals Sunderland last season and has also been loaned out to Watford.
The centre-back started his career at Coventry and has also played on loan at Southampton and Norwich.

The World's gone crazy - it seems commonplace to see thugs brandishing guns, knives and ferocious dogs on our streets. The vast majority don't want this to happen to our society, what will it take to make it stop?

I hope Calum Davenport and his Mum make a full recovery and would love the vile scumbags who did this to be locked away for the rest of their lives. I know that won't happen, unless of course something bad happens to them.

West Ham defender Calum Davenport is on the road to recovery after being released from intensive care.

The Hammers centre-half has spent the last week in hospital after being stabbed at his Bedford home.

The 26-year-old and his mother were attacked last Friday and required urgent medical attention.

Davenport was stabbed in both legs, with the severity of his injuries requiring him to undergo surgery.

He is, however, making steady progress in his rehabilitation from the incident and is no longer deemed to be in a serious condition.

While Davenport has been given positive news, with amputation fears allayed, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to revive his career as a professional footballer.

I would like to see his attackers given the death penalty.

Worthless pieces of shit; society would be a much better place without them.

A happy story for Sunday with West Ham's Calum Davenport - who almost lost his legs following a knife attack in August - being told he will play again despite a 15-inch scar on his leg. (News of the World)

Cool.

West Ham United footballer Calum Davenport has been charged with assault following an incident in which he was stabbed in both legs in Bedfordshire.

The former Coventry and Spurs star was stabbed in the legs in an incident at his mother's home in Kempston in September this year.

The 26-year-old, who denies any wrong doing, spent six days in intensive care in Bedford Hospital after the incident.

He has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on a woman.

In a statement issued by his PR company, Mr Davenport said: "I am deeply shocked and disappointed at the decision that has been made to charge me with assault.

"I deny any wrong doing and will plead not guilty. For legal reasons I am unable to discuss the matter further at this time."

Worrell Whitehurst, 25, has appeared in court charged with attacking the central defender as well as his mother, 49-year-old Kim Stupple, in the driveway of her home in Springfield Avenue, in August.

In the name of pointless, uninformed speculation I'd like to suggest it was probably his sister, possibly as an attempt to give some weight to a self defence plea from her boyfriend.:crackoff:

"A Premiership footballer attacked his pregnant sister after turning up drunk at her Bedfordshire home in the middle of the night, a court has heard."

"In the porch, Mr Davenport is said to have pushed his sister in the face so she fell back onto the stairs. He started to head butt her and in the struggle bit her cheek. "

A footballer who attacked his pregnant sister was trying to protect his father, a court has heard.

Former West Ham player Calum Davenport is accused of attacking his sister Cara after she fell pregnant again by a different man, Luton Crown Court heard.

Mr Davenport called the mother-of-one a "form of cancer" in a row over how she was going to support the child, the court was told.

Mr Davenport denies causing actual bodily harm to Miss Davenport.

The court was told Mr Davenport, of Greenfields, Bedford, headbutted his 28-year-old sister five or six times before biting her cheek during the attack at her home in Collie Road, Bedford, in the early hours of 22 August last year.

Heads collided
Mr Davenport said he was acting in self-defence and had stepped in after his sister, who was seven weeks pregnant, started punching his father Curtis.

He told police he had drunk eight pints of lager over six hours following a golf competition before going with his father to his sister's home.

They drank tea before an argument began over how she was going to pay for her second child.

The court heard Mr Davenport told officers: "My dad put the question to her, 'Are you sure this is what you want because this is it?'

"As he said that to her she went for my dad and started hitting him around the face. That's why I got in between and grabbed her wrists.

"We fell over and smashed heads. She was going mental at this point and I put my head to her head and we collided heads on two or three occasions.

"I did see my sister had bruises to her face which I apologise for."

Paid rent
Pc Vito Napoli told the court Miss Davenport had claimed in a statement following the incident that her brother had racially abused her, something she later denied in court.

She said that when Mr Davenport and his father arrived at her house demanding a beer, a row erupted over how she was going to pay for her second child.

The court heard the former England under-21 footballer regularly paid for her four-year-old son Calum Junior's clothes, holidays and also helped her with rent.

Miss Davenport said she went to push her father away from the house, but her brother intervened, bundling her back into the house against the stairs.

After repeatedly head-butting her, he grabbed her by the hair and battered her head against a wall as her son shouted "get off my mummy, get off my mummy", the court heard.

The case continues.

Having said that, i've done this before with a mate of mine who went off on one...put your head up close to them to try and get them to look at you, and in their struggle to get away your heads can collide quite painfully, and more than once.

Of course, it could just be bull.
