View Full Version : if you played for liverpool, what position would you be?

i would prefer to play as the second striker, but could do well either down the right or up front.
and you????
Centre half or defensive mid... I'm good in the tackle, a decent passer of the ball and excellent reader of the game. I lack pace and skill though so i think either position would suit me down to the ground.
Good topic btw.
Haha. Centre-mid probably....attacking CM, so in our side I'd have to be off Nando.
I say this all the time when similar topics arise...but I was once described, in a match report, as "a haunting mixture of grace and aggression" :D. I'm a robust playmaker, who always looks to make runs beyond the striker(s). Not the most skilful in the world as in step-overs and that stuff, although I do have a nifty Cruyff turn in my locker. :D
I didn't realise it was my stock trick until someone pointed out, but I always had great success running at people, feinting to shoot, selling them the dummy, going past them on the outside and smashing a shot into the net. :D

i did a step over fake shot on a breakaway one on one going as fast as i could go once. the goalkeeper actually dove and it was a tap in. that was against the pro team where i grew up. they invited me to try out after the match :source:
In an ideal world I would be some form of attacking midfield player - possibly playing wide in the style of Barnes. If it were to be based on any form of real life ability then the only position I have really genuinely excelled at was in goal (and that was when I was <15). I wouldn't want to replace Reina though :D

Right wing personally.

Lucas's position as I could get away with being a bit shit at football.
I'd like to one of the people who sit on the bench next to Rafa pointing at things then muttering.

We know your political beliefs but what position in the team?

As this is just fantasy football,I would be given a free role,i would be like zidane, pele, maradona, messi, ronaldo, the german guy all rolled into one.

Right back or the gerrard role for me. Different I know but I always enjoyed playing right back raiding up the wing, found it easy and played consistently well there. As my pace diminished I played up top and due to my great touch & vision always worked brilliantly with a pacey striker.

I'd be Torres partner upfront. I specialise in goals from 10 yards or less
I'd love to play Mashers role and I would just fucking love to cut Gary Neville in Half, Old Skool DM Nutter
Difficult one as I can literally play in every position on the pitch. Back in the day I would have said right wing as I had a lot of pace. I could possibly play up front as I always seem to pull off Torres like finishes. I'm very skillful and strong. I always like to pull off fancy pieces of skills such stepovers, drag backs, Cruyff turns etc etc.
But I would say if I played for Liverpool I would play in midfield as I'm not as quick as I used to be. I'm very strong and physical and never pull out of 50-50's. I'm also very attack minded and love to pass the ball.

Back in the day left wing whipping in the crosses and knocking in the odd goal. On current form and factoring in the expansile effect aging has had on my midsection, I think even Nando would struggle to score if I were in goal :haha:
Deadset middle of the park, mates call me Xabi when we play football  Have a knack of finding space and love to give the beautiful pass through. Favourite move is to run at the defence, lure one of them out to break their shape and give the deadly ball through  I'd also put my hand up to take free kicks, as ive got a nice little curler on my left boot that can find the back of the net  love to communicate, feed off other people's energy and send them my own too so i'd probably be el capitano :handshake: 6"3 monster in the midfield !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, to sum up:
words,, words.
I wouldn't fit taht well in to the current tactical system but I would prefer playing a box-to-box midfielder, running all over the pitch assisting both defence and attack. These days we seem to play more specialized players.
But I'm a good allrounder in the mid having a decent shot and pass, but also works a lot getting in to tackles etc.

darkon... is that on the official danish name list or do you have to pay a silly name tax?
seriously, though i was pretty impressed with the sunday-league football in denmark. seems like the players stay pretty quick and creative well into their 30's.
Carras job, best moaner, worst player, chief hoofer.

I don't know if it's reached america yet on the internet - but it's an online alias - not a real name :handshake:
Hope you guys get it as well any time soon - mr. hedgehog!
But yeah, the lower leagues in Denmark are actually quite good on the creative / technical part of the game. I think most of it comes down to the fact that we are raised with that kind of football.

It is the same in Germany, I have trained kids from the age of 6 up untill the age of 18 and the rules are the same, no hoofing, play the ball to feet. The young kids arrive and the first thing the do in training is get their ball. That stays at their feet untill training is finished or some other skill is being practised.
Even during breaks and toilet visits they have to take their ball with them, always at their feet, never more than a couple of feet away.

It's bound to turn out a little disturbed, angry and pessemistic...

You're Danish? It is at this point i will brag about being on pretty good terms with Ebbe Sand :handshake: I'm great friends with his brother and his wife/kids, coach them all in tennis and see Ebbe every year, play tennis with him (kick his ass) then play football with him (and get punished :shake:). he's still in outstanding shape, absolute beast

THATS MY MOVE!! :D
Works an absolute treat in 5 a side.
My best position is just in behind the main striker. My top speed isn't quick, but i have good acceleration, and im a quick thinker....also find the corners of the net well when i shoot. Im shithouse at stepovers and whatnot, but i can pin point passes, and have a knack for being able to do Bergkamp-esque flicks on the outside of the boot that somehow always cut through the defence and find my strike partner. I have no idea how they always come off, but they do:haha::rock:
Torres would absolutely love playing with me.
I have a Di Canio like fuse though. I can snap at any second:haha:
knockers
17-12-09, 09:41 AM
I'd say I was a Benayoun off the striker or either flank cutting in , no real pace or fancy Dan trickery but able to find a pass that others don't see with an eye for goal.
THATS MY MOVE!! :D
Works an absolute treat in 5 a side.
:D
I used it in 5-a-side more often than 11-a-side. I play up front in 5-a-side anyway so the chance to do it presents itself more often. I really exaggerate the motion to shoot....bring my right foot/leg back miles as though I'm gonna leather it, arms spread wide. Then just shift the ball as the defender totally sells himself and you're in. :D
I think I nicked it off Chris Waddle. :D

when i played at junior level i was a bit of a dion dublin / chris sutton type player. one week i was the lone man up top just flicking on headers or holding the ball up......other weeks i was a central defender. if i had my way though i'd be a keeper. number 2 to pepe.

Excellent - such a nice bloke Ebbe Sand.
I participated in a program on danish television that followed my team in the danish F.A. Cup where he came and trained us and watched one of our matches :)
And he has a sweet ass ride

so basically you want to sit on your ass, chat with the rest of the lads in the side and get paid tens of thousands of pounds a week for nothing? sounds pretty nice :crackoff:
Left wing - i'd be the cunt with bags of tricks and talent, but would go missing in games, infuriating the fans, then suddenly popping up with a killer through ball giving us the 1-0 breakthrough. My name would be sung, i'd get involved for ten to twenty mins, ripping the other team apart, before disappearing back into nothingness on the left hand side and get called a cunt from fans in the centenary again

Agger, no doubt.
I'm told I'm a very composed and sometimes skilful defender who makes the hard things look easy with a surprising turn of pace...
Personally I don't believe it as I'm 6'6" and 15.5 stone and think my mates tell me this so I'll drive 'em to the games
