1) rafa doesn't own the club, so to imply he can do what he likes and the players must lump it, is way off the mark
2) on the subject of no one being bigger than the club, this applies to managerial staff aswell as players, remember that. players have the right to say what they think is best as much as anyone, especially if they're out there in the firing line
3) rafa wouldn't like it if the club owners said to him, "no man is bigger than LFC - today Rafa, you're working in the club shop!"

don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Rafa fan but any signs of stubborness for the sake of "showing who's boss" will lead us right back to the dark depressing days of that french chap that used to work at the club.
By all means rotate the squad "when necessary" and play players out of position if you "have to", but when you're the only person on the planet who would stick Gerrard out wide to accomodate a woefully out of form Alonso (or alonso/sissoko partnership) then you must re evaluate the situation and ask, "am i doing this because it's right or am i doing it to prove a point".....
