sorry mate but don't think there is a valued arguement in there.Originally posted by carheex....you're talking toss:
1) rafa doesn't own the club, so to imply he can do what he likes and the players must lump it, is way off the mark
2) on the subject of no one being bigger than the club, this applies to managerial staff aswell as players, remember that. players have the right to say what they think is best as much as anyone, especially if they're out there in the firing line
3) rafa wouldn't like it if the club owners said to him, "no man is bigger than LFC - today Rafa, you're working in the club shop!"
1. rafa is not doing as he pleases, and he's not being a bully he's trying to make things work better and thats what he's there to do...
2. no player do not have as much to say about how the club is run as the man who is hired to do so. he is brought in there do to his abilities as amanager and the board trusts him, so by that he has more to say than the players.
3. and this is out of the box, full stop. to even imply there's a simurarity is outrageous, first and foremost, rafa is not pushing stevie aroud cause he wants to, he trying to acomodate him and trying to make him understand, that what he thinks he is best at might not be his best ability, and him playing in a different manner might help the team more, than just his own ego. stevie is our best cm, but that doesn't mean that is his best position and if he's to daft to understand that than that his problem, how many time do you see it in management in real life new boss comes in and makes changes, valuates the staff and sees that their strenghts would be better served for the company in other positions. thats just life...
p.s. and what does out of position mean? the position he wants to play, the position he's best at, the position it's best for the team to play, or your opinion on what his position is???Last edited by Diego; 24-10-06, 11:08 PM."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. I see what you are suggesting about Rafa being wrong to play Gerrard on the right, I dont necessarily agree but I see how you could argue that.Originally posted by carheex....you're talking toss:

Your three numbered points however are so off the wall, completely nonsensical and irrelevant and miss the point that I feel dirty even dignifying it with a response.

1)No he doesn't own the club, but he can pretty much do what he want's with the players. I imagine the only players who *might* have a problem would be those who were here before Rafa and those players will slowly move on. Ala Cisse, and maybe even eventually Gerrard. He can do what he want's with the players he's brought in, so the same applies to those he didn't.Originally posted by carheex....you're talking toss:

It's not as if he's asking Gerrard to play in goal is it, he's trying to relseas him on the right to be free and to cut inside and have chances on goal, like a lot of Gerrard style players do. The problem is Gerrard can't see it, and likes to moan about it instead of trusting a manager who has brought us 2 trophies in his first 2 seasons.
2)True no one is bigger than the club, and players do have their right to their own oppinion but it should be done in private with the boss, not for all the world to see/hear. Similarly Rafa can talk to the players and tell them what he thinks - he's also in the firing line you know.
3)True, I'm sure Rafa wouldn't want to work in the club shop, but that's not we bought him for is it, we bought him to be a manager and I'm sure the terms are in his contract that outline his duties. Which will also have clauses about if he doesn't do the business then we will relieve him of his duties etc. Whereas I'm sure Stevie G's contract doesn't say that he will only play in center of midfield, it will say that he will do what the **** Rafa tells him to do.
***Now wether I think Gerrard should play Right or middle is a different matter, but I just wanted to point out that I disagree with you.
Oh and that your post is toss, as is your oppinion.Thomas Hicks Senior

He's paid to make those decisions, so he doesnt need to own the club to make them. He should keep doing what he feels is best, he has to be his own man and if the time comes where he isnt the one making the decisions, then the club will tell him.Originally posted by carheex....you're talking toss:

I remain slightly unconvinced that Gerrard has a position that he could call his own. He really does require a lot of freedom to get the best from him, by starting him on the wing he is released from a lot of the things he is not naturally good at, like holding a position and keeping possession with a long series of short passes in the centre. By demanding Gerrard plays in the centre effectively people are asking Rafa to build the team around him. I'm fairly sure that if you need to make changes to the rest of a side to accomodate a single player in a particular position then they are not a "natural player" of that role."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

In my opinion, Gerrards best position is centre midfield. that is where he's happiest, has the most influence, performs the best, is most effective for the team and causes the most problems. There can be no logical argument with that.
Our best player, the one that we'd be well and truly ****ed without, is being used incorrectly to accomodate Alonso, who has been so poor this season it hurts. It seems that the only person that cannot see this or is prepared to do anything about it, is the only one that matters - Mr Benitez.
incidentally, is there any way of banning new memberships from old koptalkers? this place is riddled with them to the extent that is feels like i'm back on koptalk - not a good thing. The government have issued restrictions on bulgarians and romanians - isn't it time est1892 did the same for koptalkers? there were a handful on there that made the place really cliquey and they're startin to appear here now and the forums have definitely changed for the worse in recent weeks.

Sorry but that's an exaggeration. The CL campaign of 2004-05 showed that SG is not the be all and end all.

It's cyberspace not real life. The amount of moaning someone does about other members usually correlates with the quality of their posts.Originally posted by carheex

Last time I checked, football was a team game, and was about picking the players in the positions that best suit the team, not about accommodating one star player in his favoured position.
Let's see, would Carheex rather have Gerrard and one of either Alonso or Sissoko in centre-mid + Pennant on the right, or would he rather have a central pairing of Sissoko and Alonso + Gerrard on the right? With all due respect to Pennant, I know which I'd rather have.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

A good team is more effective than the sum of it's constituent parts. At the moment we are not a good team. If we get the most out of gerrard by playing him in the centre then that is what we must do in my opinion. But then my opinion counts for **** all.Originally posted by Gordon Brown
