Excuse me but it's called soccer in the US. Football is an entirely different game which I'm sure you know. He may as well get used to calling it soccer now. He sure as hell can't call it football when he gets here.

It's fairly safe to assume that a man who has just signed the most lucrative contract in all of sports is a) not a failure b) not going to fade into obscurity.

But he's not in the US and he's not from the US.

The game is Association Football, commonly shortened to football. I've no problem with Americans calling it what the hell they want but someone who knows the history of the game and has played it at it's highest level should get it right. He has no integrity and no respect for the game.
Why can't he call it association football, that is the correct terminology?

So people are slating him because he has called it Soccer, as the Americans do and because he is earning a phenomenal amount of money? Yes, what an idiot, i'm glad i dont have his lifestyle where i can earn what i want and live where i want and play the sport i love. Why does he do it? He should have stayed in Madrid where the current manager (wrongly IMO) isn't playing him and snubbed the biggest deal in sporting history.

I think we need to re-think who we call bitter in future.

You know he's wrong Speedy, the game is not called Soccer, you know it and he does too.

No integrity? No respect? Beckham? Please...it's very possible that since he is so stupid, he is saying soccer now so he can get used to it and not forget. Besides, he'll be our problem to deal with pretty soon and you guys can stop worrying about him.

I do understand your point though.

If I never hear about him ever again then I will be very happy indeed

Say what you want about her but she's also made herself a major player with virtually no talent at all. Beckham is overrated but at least he was a pretty good footballer.
                    I agree.

What's next after this for Golden Balls? I can see him doing an Arnie and becoming the next governor of California

                    It's definitely a possibility...

                        1) I don't watch "Soccer am".
                        2) It's different that a program is called soccer am to a player who has called the game which has brought him untold fame and fortune "football" for 30 years and now suddenly he calls it "soccer".

It may not matter to most, but it makes my skin crawl to see someone sell out to the extent that he has. That's why I think he has no integrity or respect for the game. I'm not bothered how much money he has, but you'd think untold wealth would allow him to not sell out to the extent he is prepared to.

Oh well..you know how much the British press love him. Just because he will be here doesn't mean he won't be in the news there. And it's all over the US gossip sites. Not that anyone cares.

Apparently you have missed the news on how much he and Posh like to shop and travel. The kind of shopping they do costs a lot of money. But in all honesty I am just hoping he has a positve impact on the sport here. I would like to see it be as popular as our football, basketball and baseball. It's a wonderful game and people here have no idea what they are missing.

Well his wealth is estimated at over 70 million pounds. Difficult to shop that much even with Posh.

Oh I don't know. I could spend it without any difficulty. And then some.
