I hope the Rumours linking him with a future Utd job are True.

I just dont rate him. In Scotland he was a Big Fish in a small pond. His lack of European success with Celtic showed his limitations

Erm.....he took Celtic to the UEFA cup final, knocking us out on the way. That IMO is a qualified sucess for a Celtic manager.

I'm not saying he's a bad manager. I just don't fancy him for Liverpool. His Celtic team were a very physical team with a couple of big target men, Hartson and Sutton, and a centre back who broke more legs than won headers, Balde. Not the type of footballers / football i want to see at Anfield.

He has the same **** players O'Leary had, nothing he can do untill he gets his players and having just made 3 or so signings and with aload of young players performing out of their skin i dont think he has done bad at all, not great but certainly to question his ability this early isnt fair.

Yes, but Playing all that time in CL and not making the knockout stages shows his ability. Rangers have done better and even Celtic are making the knockout stages now

Hands up i've said that in the past (before Villa's free-fall). Like many others i've some kinda hex on him with that utterance... if anything i should be praised for it.

The context i used at the time IIRC was Rafa IMO struggled in the premiership. No. 1 candidate would be Hiddink, but i just can't see that happening... besides that cat is a job hopper at best.

Ps. Strachan hasn't necessarily done a better job than O'Neill... the other clubs around them in the top tier of the SPL have spectacularly collapsed making that job a pile of pish.

I think he's a decent manager who probably will never be up there with the very best.
That said, during the last knockings of Houlliers time, i would have taken O'Neill in a heartbeat.

I know some posters who rate O'Neill highly but I won't name & shame as they are old friends from Kraptalk.
I think he is an average manager. His success is Scotland does not mean he is great. We all know how weak the SPL is so to win all you need is half a brain.
He would not hold a candle to our RAFA.

He did ok in the UEFA cup though, against some pretty good teams

In fact, there's more chance he's a very naughty boy than the ****ing Messiah. Not long ago (this week, in fact) there were some people saying they'd take him over Rafa. Dear oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear.
                          Really?
I would have doubted that mate.
I remember people saying, including myself that O'Niell was a very good manager and one of the best motivators in the game, which he has proved season after season. He is having a tough time at Villa at present in a team with little resources, he will have more money to spend, when he starts making the team his own, then we can judge for ourselves what he is like.
I was one of the people who said he was an excellent manager, but never did i say he should ever take over from Rafa.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                                He's really proving himself now

He better improve though, else Utd will never sign him to replace Ferguson
