He's the best shot stoppers in the world. The rest of his attributes are better than most keepers. The Spanish national squad dont want to lose games, they pick their best keeper. As for Carrick, someone ask Paul Scholes how good he is.

Paul Scholes always did well enough without Carrick's presence, so that doesn't seem much of a worthwhile point.

I think Carrick is a decent player, but not much better than that. Most Mancs I know (and, for my sins, I know a lot) are always on his case to show a bit of passion and desire once in a while.

I was watching the match last night and saw Iker Casillas in goal for Spain... There is absolutely NO WAY he is better than Pepe Reina. The guy is slow as fcuk, his reaction time is equal to mine when I drink 6 or 7 beers + he shouts like a girl...

Why is he Spain's no.1 goalkeeper is beyond me (okay, he probably is because he plays for Galactico and that's so cool).

It's the same ****e as Carrick bollocks. I can't understand he is an England international (then again I don't know why Lampshade gets called up). Why everyone presume that players are much, much better if they play for a "big team"?

Theo Walcott would never make it to the World Cup if he played for Southampton, but since he played those 3.2 minutes for Arsenal, he deserved a place in expence of Defoe and other strikers.

Reina is a fantastic all round keeper but Casillas is a phenomenal shot stopper. He deserves his starting place at the moment.

Casillas is a good keeper but too overrated for my liking...

In his very early days he showed tremendous promise but I don't think since then that he as really gone of to show how good he may be....

He still has time though.

As it is I'm more than happy with Pepe in goal for us.

Ask Real Madrid fans about him. He has got their player of the season last two years amongst their shambolic displays. Keeping them in games against horrible opposition.

I think Casillas is good - but not great. For me he doesn't command his box like most good keepers do. He's not in Buffon's league, who I believe is great.
Pepe or Casillas? I'd have no problem picking Pepe over Casillas.
