Yes. This has been universally panned. An awful lot of people on 606 seem to be proposing an alternative:

      3 points for the win
1 point for a score draw
      0 points for a no-score draw
0 point for a loss (of course)

Encourages teams to go for it to at least get a goal.
No! I am NOT in denial!

Personally I like things just as they are; some 0-0 games are very entertaining.

SOME 0-0 games are entertaining. A lot are not. But equally not all 1-0 or 2-0 games are entertaining. The 0-0 games you are on about are those end-to-end matches in which it just happens that no-one can find the back of the net. In other words, both teams are going for it.

0 points for a no-score draw removes the incentive that a lot of teams have to sit back and defend the 1 point they started the game with. Instead it means they start with zero points and have to go out and score a goal to earn their minimum 1 point.

I think it is a constructive way of encouraging more interesting football.

Sky Sports asked a few managers about this last night. Ian Holloway's response was class.

After saying the idea must be some sort of joke the interviewer mentioned that it was fans who had come up with it. He waited a couple of moments then asked if these fans had been asked their opinion in a pub. After a few ales.

            Top bloke is Holloway.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

Have they got nothing better to do than sit around and come up with these crap ideas?

              Absolute bollocks.

                hate all this with passion...

it's a simple game lets keep it simple, why do we have to Americanize everything. things are fine as they are...

so the football league will scrap draws but the premierleague will allow them, football should have the same rules world wide, thats why fifa is what it is...

                  Totally agree.

And I think the responce on here suggests that real fans wouldnt want this crap. As Budwieser suggests, we do the football, they do the beer!

Seriously thats what it seems like, a daft commercial. Why not have Multi ball in the last 5 minutes and monster trucks at half time too?

It would mean that we'd stand a chance during our obligatory scoring drought at the beginning of each season!

I think Chelsea had them at one point if you remember their pitch before a game against Charlton! Stanford Beach!

Yeah to be fair we are pretty good at penalty shoot outs and pretty good at defending, so bring it on!

If football was as crap as Budweiser I wouldn`t watch it.

The MLS had something similar to this for a while. It was some hair-brained idea that they had to "appeal" to the "casual fan". Eventually, they realized that their core supporters (and I'm sure this includes all the players too) thought it was stupid, and they scrapped it to try and erase the laughing stock factor.

Somebody at the Football League has got Blatter syndrome. There is no way that this will happen.

Of course, if they introduced this in Prem, England might eventually win a shootout at a major tournament.
