I am sure the ref played it by the rules.
He is likely not to blame. If the pen had been taken it would probs been a victory for sweden anyway.

NI are ****e and have nothing to do in the Euro Champs anyway...

    Neither has Norway btw...

There was at least two other supporters who entered the pitch after the first one, and again no steward or police chasing him.

It was impossible to restart the game and you can't replay the game when something like this happens.

The rules are very clear. Denmark will lose the game 3-0 as a start. They will probably also be forced to play ? number of home games in another country.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

A ref can't stop a game and award a team a victory. Hence the UEFA investigation. He created a farce.

          Oh, I think he can.

Such an incident as the supporter attacking the ref would call for an investigation in itself I believe, regardless of calling the game off later.

          Bitter?

            I think the ref is a ****.

            I also wanted a Danish win; i think it was a mass-overreaction.

CL Final Referee attacked by Fan

COPENHAGEN, June 2 (Reuters) - Denmark fought back from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Sweden in a Euro 2008 Group F qualifier on Saturday which was abandoned a minute from time after a fan attacked referee Herbert Fandel.

The result will not be confirmed until an investigation by UEFA's disciplinary committee following receipt of the referee and delegate reports, UEFA said on their Web site.

Local media announced somewhat prematurely that Sweden had been awarded the match 3-0, but the outcome cannot be decided until the disciplinary committee have ruled on the matter.

The fracas began after Denmark's Christian Poulsen was sent off just before the end of the game for striking Markus Rosenberg in the Danish penalty area.

Fandel signalled a penalty for Sweden, but before it could be taken, a supporter rushed onto the pitch and struck out at the German who handled last week's Champions League final between AC Milan and Liverpool.

Fandel immediately blew the whistle and walked off the pitch.

At least two more supporters managed to force their way onto the pitch in the minutes just after the incident.

Sweden rushed into a 3-0 lead after 26 minutes with Johan Elmander scoring twice and Petter Hansson adding the other.

Denmark fought back with goals from Daniel Agger, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Leon Andreasen who made it 3-3 15 minutes from time.

'This was supposed to be a soccer party,' Danish goalie Thomas Sorensen told Reuters after the cancellation. 'But then these two ill tempered incidents happen and that is really an anti-climax.'

This was a game that was perhaps too entertaining but that ended very tragically,' Swedish coach Lars Lagerback told Swedish television after the match.

'You don't know what kind of people they are (that run onto the pitch) and what they have in their pockets,' Sweden's assistant coach Roland Andersson told Swedish national TV.

I really can't seen how anyone can blame the ref here. He feared, correctly, for his safety. The guy almost landed his punch for god's sake. People should take their blinkers off

I agree he should have called it off. However, a punch in the stomach is surely a red card, but IS IT an automatic penalty? Yes, he was in the box, but where was the ball? It seemed outside the box and being played backward. That is the part I don't understand...

Also, having watched the match, it was VERY physical all game long and Agger was brilliant to watch, laughing, causing trouble, stirring up ****; He was hilarious and played in a VERY forward position. Interesting to see him so far up the pitch. What a match. crazy!
