I have to say I'm not hugely surprised that the new TV deal has attracted lot of ludicrous spending. It wil be interesting to see if it really makes the PL more competetive as some of the smaller fish can buy in better players.
I do think some of those wages are mad - what has Devenport done to deserve big wages? I would say though that it is the offering of big money to the championship player which I find more worrying than the Lucas Neill transfer.
West Ham were desperate and he was available cheap due to his contract expiring soon - so you expect the same economics as with any "free" transfer where the cost comes in wages.
I think it will take a couple of years to reach a sensible equilibrium again. I think until then we will mostly shopping abroad and for youth only in this country."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Crazy stuff isn't it ? Well, that's why as you say, Rafa is mostly buying players from Spain. Compared to Bent at £ 17 M, Forlan or Milito seems to be better value for money, based on the appearances for their country alone.Originally posted by dww View Post
