He has when he's played. 14 games, 7 goals.

Arsenal create an inordinate amount of clear-cut chances. Lots of one-on-ones. They normally miss them, too. Even Henry, as great as he is, can be quite profligate in front of goal. Owen would thrive there (if fit) - he's a fantastic one-on-one finisher.

That's my point. Everyone goes on about how many "guaranteed goals" you get with Owen but the fact is you don't even get guaranteed games out of him these days.

Aye, but if (and it might be a big 'if') he stays fit he will, without any doubt at all IMO, score a lot of goals for Arsenal....should he go there, of course.

If he plays games, he scores goals.

And if he doesn't play games, he doesn't score goals.

That much, at least, is clear.

Personally I'd be mightily surprised if Wenger bought him.

Sorry, that line-up is wholly unrealistic - I need to change it:

                      * Sub. van Persie 2 mins (Henry - back injury, out for the season)
** Sub. Adebayor 3 mins (Owen - body broke into a thousand tiny pieces - dead)
                      .

You would? Hmm, not so sure. I think he's been after that "fox in the box" for quite some time and never found one. Wenger must realise they need a finisher, and Owen is just that.

If Henry goes and Owen came in, they'd clearly miss everything Henry brings to the table. Owen just scores goals, that's pretty much it, but Arsenal still managed to create **** loads of chances last season without Henry for the most part and I think Henry out/Owen in might work for them.

Obviously, it all hinges on whether Owen can stay fit for any notable length of time. It'd be a gamble but at £9m it's one they can afford to take.

I think Owen would work well in the Arsenal side. Not sure that it would be worth the gamble for Arsenal though as the only reason to off load Henry would be his injuries, which is also a problem with Owen.

I guess it depends on whether Henry has become a problem in the dressing room in terms of a presence when not playing or coming back in ahead of others or they would make money on the two deal allowing them to bring in other players.
