Thank God O'Neill isn't our manager

Yet another abysmal signing from Martin O'Neill - Marlon Harewood. A Championship-level striker if ever there was one.

I realise he would never purchase him if he was in charge at Anfield, but I like to think my point remains; his eye for a player is curious, to say the least.

I don't see him being the Messiah at Villa if he carries on like this. Reo-Coker (grossly overrated IMO), Harewood, Carew (wank), £10m on Ashley Young...
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

O'Neill signings eally do puzzle me sometimes, i know you can't attract the top player to Villa, but there are better players out there than Harewood! Looks like a bottom half for Villa again this season!

There's soemthing about Harewood that really get on my tits, think it's that stupid look he constantly has on his face

He kinda looks like the Dad from Dinosaur that was on ITV back in the 90's
    Justice for the 96

He rated Heskey what do you expect?

IMO he's in the same category as the likes of Allardyce and Curbishley, they can take mediocre clubs and turn them into solid PL teams. But give them a bigger budget and they still go for middle of the road rubbish to suit their tactical ethos aka "The punt it and head it", more to the point Houllier was another one.

I heard somewhere that the deal was for around 5 million pounds!

Its amazing really. Some of the transfers so far have been for silly money so far.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

they're destined to remain a midtable side signing these kind of players, its become really apparent o'neill and villa have never had much money to spend, overpaying for ****e players that wont really improve them. harewood and carew up front villa are going to be fun to watch....

I know a lot of Villa fans who are trying to put a positive outlook on it but inside they're crying.........

i'll reserve judgement until the season is under way.

at the end of the day there are now 5 or 6 clubs with new owners throwing money around but at the end of the day the better players will always go to the top teams. with the possible exception of spurs I can't see anyone breaking the top 4, sad and predictable as it is.

Harewood is ****e although when west ham first came up he did fairly well. if anyone is going to get 10 goals out of him it will be o'neill.

whether o'neill fails or not at villa I still have a great admiration for the man. he's honest and a throw back to the days when the game had characters.

My point being that the likes of O'Neil should be allowed no where near a club like ours. He's a long ball merchant.

really? you don't think he's just getting the best out of the resources available? did they play long ball last season? I thought WE played a lot of long ball under Houllier personally. There's no way anyone knows how he'd have a top team play unless he manages one. He hardly have the likes of rooney, ronaldo etc hoofing it would he??

He's hardly played expansive, flowinmg football at any of the clubs he's managed has he?

He had ample opportunity in the piss poor Scottish league to get some good footballers on his team and play a bit of football. Instead he packed the team with the likes of Hartson, Sutton, Balde and 'hoofed' the ball all around the Scottish league.

His footballing style is atrocious. Even the most ardent Celtic fan will agree.
