Pato Wants To Play For Madrid, Claims Agent

Real Madrid believe that they are in front in the race to sign Internacional starlet Alexandre Pato after being told he only wants to play for them.

The Spanish giants are locked in a battle to capture the 17-year-old with AC Milan and have held talks with his agent in a bid to wrap up a deal.

Predrag Mijatovic, los Merengues' sporting director met Pato's representative, Gilmar Veloz, and was given some encouraging news.

"Stay calm, Pato only wants to play for Real Madrid," Veloz is reported as saying in Marca.

Milan supremo, Silvio Berlusconi, stated on Monday that the Brazilian wonderkid was a player that he wanted and after missing out on many potential targets this summer.

Both Madrid and Milan have put together stunning financial packages to sign Pato and the decision will come down to the player's personal choice.

The Italian giants had been linked to Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko too, but has seen their interest rebuffed by Barça and Chelsea.

Now Pato is their main focus, but it appears that the player is keen to try his luck in the Spanish league.

With a buy-out clause of €25m, Milan and Madrid can both easily afford to match that and buy him out of his contract with Internacional.

I watched him live in the WC U20 and he was not up to scratch lads. He drifted in and out of games.
The lad is talented no doubt but he ain't the finished article. Long way to go yet.

but he is 17, but suppose when you look at players like Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo and even nani/anderson/Queresam, they were making big waves at that age.

Personally i think Pato is much much different to the likes of Ronaldinho, Tevez and the fake Ronaldo or even nani etc.

I say this because these lads all like to do their tricks and dribbles.

Pato i think is much more of a poacher in the Fowler mould

Brazilian superkid Pato dreams of Chelsea move
                  tribalfooball.com - July 31, 2007

Alexandre Pato favours a move to Chelsea over rival offers from Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter.

Gazzetta dello Sport says the 17 year-old Internacional striker dreams of pulling on a Blues shirt and actually goes by the nickname 'Stamford Bridge' when chatting with friends on the internet.

However, Chelsea are believed to be well behind Real Madrid and AC Milan in the race for the Brazil U20 international.

Pato: It's between AC Milan and Real Madrid
                    tribalfooball.com - August 02, 2007

Internacional striker Alexandre Pato has revealed he's to decide between AC Milan and Real Madrid where he will next be playing.

"My father is returning from his travels in Italy and in Spain," the 17 year-old Brazilian told Globoesporte. "He has gone to meet with the clubs of Milan and Real."

Pato's father, meanwhile, declared yesterday that a final decision from his son would be made "in the next few days".

Pato ducks in at the San Siro
                        Friday 3 August 2007

European champions AC Milan have signed Brazilian striking sensation Pato from SC Internacional for a fee rumoured to be in the region of €14.6m.

                        Ineligible
The precocious 17-year-old joins for an undisclosed length of time though he will be ineligible until the new year due to rules forbidding Italian teams from registering non-EU players before they turn 18. Pato, whose name translates as 'duck', celebrates his birthday on 2 September by which time the transfer market and date for registering new players is closed.

                        Dream switch
The move is a dream come true for the youngster, who admits he always plays as Milan on his Sony PlayStation, and had expressed his desire to join his compatriots Kaká and Ronaldo at the San Siro. The Rossoneri will be pretty pleased too, after Pato caught the eye with a string of brilliant performances at this summer's FIFA U-20 World Cup, scoring three goals in four games as Brazil reached the last 16. It capped an impressive rise that began with his debut, aged 16, for Internacional last year and included a five-goal haul in Brazil's victorious 2007 South American Youth Championship campaign.
                        We come not to play.

Made his debut for Milan tonight. Scored and was class throughout a 5-2 victory over Napoli. This lad is going to be a star.
