3 foot fractures in 3 years = underlying problem?

not sure exactly if rooneys fracture is another metatarsal fracture but it looks like it. thatd make 3 such fractures in 3 yrs: 1st v portugal june 2004, second v chavski may 2006 now august 2007.

in a healthy male, a metatarsal fracture should be well healed in 6 weeks - enough for normal life anyhow. return to a high velocity sport like footy can reasonably take longer.

back in sept 2006 - when we were due to play the scum at OT the next day, a very prominent and well respected poster KT posted that he though rooney would play and that all ginsoaks protestations - hed been on about how bad rooneys injury was and how long itd take - were mind games.

just that very day, a colleague happened to show me rooneys scan that he had from the private sector and it showed delayed healing. i posted that there was NO WAY shrek would play - but nobody really picked up on this and since i was depressed at sitting in the stretford end through a miserable 2-1 defeat, i forgot about it. (in fact, as i recall, didnt stevie g get the same injury in that game?)

now its happened again - and from the kind of challenge thet when i played 11-a-side, i usually got several times a game its my considered opinion that rooney has bone issues. it may be his fat-boy fast food diet or it may be something more serious but i dont think its the mainstream explanation of modern boots. quite a few players have done metatarsals but i havent heard anybody else do it 3 times in such a short space of time.

sad for ingland, but i reckon shreks got a real issue here

I put it down to the extreme pressure his feet bones are under. NO bone should have to carry all that excess weight around.

      Hilarious for England!

This one isn't a metatarsal injury but I take your point and very much hope that you're right.

He is beginning to come down the Owen and Kirkland class when it comes down to injuries and it all can't be down to bad luck.

The top players now start to play to many games to early. That is a big problem.

Rafa is doing it the way it should be done and gives the players time before they start to play week in week out.

Insua is a good example. He could probably take a place in the team but Rafa won't rush him. I doubt that Rafa will play any young player to much even if he is good enough to play in the PL every week.

Give them the time they need and then you will get more out of the player at a later stage in the career.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Apparently it isn't according to 5Live yesterday.

To be fair to the lad a big defender stood on his foot, I suspect a lot of people would have ended up injured from than.

I suspect the underlying problem probably has more to do with him being too ****ing dumb to get his foot out of the way when someone's studs are heading for it.

True, i reckon its more to do with his football boots not giving him enough protection, the flexible, almost trainers like boots are good but the injuries show surely they don't protect the feet as well as the old fashioned boots.

Serves him right the moaning Shrekalike little Neville loving Fukface. Looks like his Princess Fiona (Tevez) will replace him.

I'd go with that, i think it is more due to the boots rather than an underlying problem. Anyone can break a bone in a match.

Much as I HATE the SCUM and everything associated with them, I hope it's not something more serious.

It really would be a tragedy for the lad if it is more serious, he has the potential to be the greatest player ever from these shores. I'd be very sad for the lad, not for the SCUM, I'll laugh heartily at the damage it'll do to them but I'd be disappointed for Rooney as an individual.

                              Great post.

It's sad that injuries has ruined so many top talents the chance to reach the top of their potential. Fowler and Owen is two examples of that and Sammer another.
