not sure exactly if rooneys fracture is another metatarsal fracture but it looks like it. thatd make 3 such fractures in 3 yrs: 1st v portugal june 2004, second v chavski may 2006 now august 2007.
in a healthy male, a metatarsal fracture should be well healed in 6 weeks - enough for normal life anyhow. return to a high velocity sport like footy can reasonably take longer.
back in sept 2006 - when we were due to play the scum at OT the next day, a very prominent and well respected poster KT posted that he though rooney would play and that all ginsoaks protestations - hed been on about how bad rooneys injury was and how long itd take - were mind games.
just that very day, a colleague happened to show me rooneys scan that he had from the private sector and it showed delayed healing. i posted that there was NO WAY shrek would play - but nobody really picked up on this and since i was depressed at sitting in the stretford end through a miserable 2-1 defeat, i forgot about it. (in fact, as i recall, didnt stevie g get the same injury in that game?)
now its happened again - and from the kind of challenge thet when i played 11-a-side, i usually got several times a game its my considered opinion that rooney has bone issues. it may be his fat-boy fast food diet or it may be something more serious but i dont think its the mainstream explanation of modern boots. quite a few players have done metatarsals but i havent heard anybody else do it 3 times in such a short space of time.
sad for ingland, but i reckon shreks got a real issue here
