I think Jol has been hard done by. It's the Spurs board responsibility if the club is in dire straits now, as they have appointed Jol in the first place and should have felt confident from the off that he was gonna be the man for them.

He should be given more time IMO, as having to rebuild every 3/4 years is what breaks up a club in the long term. Stability is the name of the game and Spurs haven't had it for years.

      Martin Jol Sacked??

If this turns out to be true and one of the reasons being that he lost the first 2 games, then its an absolute disgrace.

Spurs, what a 2 bob ****ing outfit with delusions of grandeur.

I think Jol has done wonders with that club, the squad may not be perfect but its a huge improvement on what they used to be.

      It's the end for Jol
Spurs boss could be out by weekend
      Exclusive by John Cross 21/08/2007

Martin Jol was last night left on the brink as he fears his three year reign as Tottenham boss is coming to an end.

Under-pressure Jol has lost the full support of the board and he could be forced out of White Hart Lane before Sunday's trip to Manchester United.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has sanctioned a move for Juande Ramos after the Seville coach indicated that he is interested in the job during a meeting with vice-chairman Paul Kemsley last Friday.

That left Jol's reign in crisis and his future in the balance even after Saturday's four-goal thrashing of Derby, which came on the back of defeats to Sunderland and Everton.

Dutchman Jol was hoping for some reassurances over his future yesterday after the meeting between Kemsley and Ramos became public and embarrassing over the weekend.

But it has become clear to Jol the meeting took place with the full knowledge and support of Levy - and that effectively undermines his reign as manager.

Jol got no messages of support from the board yesterday and it is now just a matter of time.

Certainly history is not on his side. In three of the last ten seasons Spurs have been first to change their manager - Gerry Francis in 1997, Christian Gross in 1998 and Glenn Hoddle in 2003. Also, in 2004, Jacques Santini lasted only until November 5, but Newcastle had already ditched Bobby Robson by then.

Jol is insisting he will not quit but the club may force the issue if they can get Ramos this week.

Ramos claims he was first contacted in the summer about the job but Spurs' opening two defeats proved to be the catalyst for Kemsley to go and speak to the Seville coach on Friday.

Ramos, who has one year left on his deal at Seville, is keen to come to Tottenham and is now negotiating his exit as he has a £350,000 get-out clause in his contract.

It is a bitter blow for Jol who was given £40m in the summer to strengthen his squad with players like Darren Bent, Younes Kaboul and Gareth Bale.

But Mirror Sport revealed on Saturday that players have criticised Jol's training methods.

Jol has been accused of "losing the plot" by some senior players because of his team selection while the board do not like his negative tactics.

        Negative tactics?

Are this lot on glue? He played 4 strikers against Everton to try amd get a result.

I don't always agree with his signings and team selection but on the whole he's done a good job down there. They play entertaining football and are pushing for a CL spot - probably at the expense of their most hated neighbours.

If he does go he won't be out of the Premiership for very long. I'd also like to see Ramos fall on his arse if he does get the job on the sly.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

                You've noticed that too, then?

He's fine in normal, "real life", but when he's on the touchline - and especially when things are going against his team - he twitches and flinches like ****!

I watched the Sunderland v Spurs game and was keeping a close eye on Berbatov.

I'm not surprised Jol wants rid.

The guy was moping around the pitch spitting out his dummy at every opportunity. He thinks he's too good for Spurs and has become a detremental influence by having a go at his team mates (not in the right manner).
