Noticed that he was very very poor. So was Hargreaves and Downing and Defoe continues show why I'm so glad we never bought him.

He has good close control and awareness, exceptional short passing. He keeps possession well and in the middle of the pitch is a vital cog in chelseas machine, moves the ball from defence to attack very quickly, he is a great foil for Makelele as he always makes himself available for a pass. Hopefully for England he can develop a similar understanding with Hargreaves.

He is also a very accurate shooter from the edge of the area. He has had problems in recent times but in general his shots all start on target and are hard. The number of deflections he has that go in is really a reflection of the pace of his shooting and accuracy. I say this because mostly the don't seem to deviate a great deal, with the deflection usually helping to beat the keeper but not really affecting the fact that the ball is on target.

I fail to see how he is a great foil for Makalele, its more the other way around for me. Lampard contributes very very little defensively, Makalele does Lampards work in this area.
The qualities you describe him as having are IMO, not enough for him to be held up as a glowing example of a world-class footballer which he is by all and sundry.
He is an average player playing in a very good Chelsea side IMO. With the quality of player he has alongside him week in and week out, its impossible for him not to look good on occasion.

Frank Fatcnut doesn't deserve to wear an England shirt on a constant basis. He's been ****e through the World Cup and he's out of form again in the QF for Euro 2008... He's slowing the England team down. I say, put Pennant on the right and Stevie in the middle of the park... And that's it, problem solved! But McLaren's afraid of Lampard or Abramovič, I guess... He'll probably keep him in the line-up until Fatcnut scores 3 OGs in a game...

FFS! Pick players because they'll benefit the team, not players who happen to play for Chelsea and are infact ****e! Just because he's a Premiership champion doesn't mean he earns an England shirt!!!

i hate frank lampard, he believes his own hype. he doesnt graft for the team, doesnt look like he cares about wearin the shirt, im embarrassed england have a player like him in the team. hes so slow its amazing hes a professional athlete, big sami could beat him in a race with a piano on his back. honestly sometimes it looks like hes moving in slow motion. he cant tackle, he always plays the easy square ball, he cant dribble, and now we can add cant shoot to the list.

sad that england have an AM that cant beat a man, no pace, no creativity....to stop frank lampard you stand in front of him, simple as that
