i think the timing was pretty good for them, if the transfer window was still open i think the would have had a problem. now no one can leave till christmas, so there will be no knee-jerk reaction players leaving. i think this could have been the main thing behind the timingOriginally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostHalf of them are hangers on who were tired of having to trek to the pub or heaven forbid get on the train up to Old Chavord.
I mean they had what 20,000 at the Rosenburg game? Shows how much they really care, or rather shows how many really do care.
Still can't believe that he's gone though, not so much that Roman and him clashed - there was an obvious difference in philosophy brewing - but the timing is truely ghastly for them. And what of most of the players there? How will they react? Most of them were close to Mourinho, especially Terry, Lampard, Cech, Essien and Drogba, the key players.
No doubt they'll galvanise themselves for the scum game - lets hope, but in the mid to long term will they play as hard for second rate no marks like Grant and Clarke as they would for Mourinho? Still, I'm not going to write them off this season, they have far too many good players.
Of course the dream scenario is for Roman to start picking the team and buying all the players. He's made a great start with Shevchenko.

that's how i see it. Although the likes of fat frank it will probably take until Chirmbo to realise Jose has gone.
Roman was hopeing Jose would quit in the summer, he didn't. He'd already brought in his replacement.
Was hopeing for a couple of bad results and as close into the season as possible. Its times like these we learn to live again FF

just watching avram grants press conference and the chelsea chairman bruce Buck, said "there is nothing unusual in jose's contract that you would not find in an executive's if he left his company". He said this when asked whether mourinho was allowed to manage another prem club. Basically, he gave the answer which most of the reporters didnt understand but means that Jose cannot manage another prem team because if you were an executive leaving a big company you would not be allowed to take your secrets across to the rival firm.

JOSE: For one thing that goes wrong...one...one single thing that goes wrong, a hundred things go right. Do you know what I spend my time doing? I sleep two or three hours a night. There's no sex and drugs for JOSE, ROMAN. Do you know what I do? I find lost luggage. I locate mandolin strings in the middle of Austin!
ROMAN: Yes. We've seen you. We've seen you do that.
JOSE: You know? I prise the rent out of the local Hebrews. That's what I do.
AVRAM: Well maybe you should get someone else to find the lost luggage, and you should concentrate on what's going on on stage!
ROMAN: Yes, yes. That's what we're talking about.
JOSE: You mean you want me to be the road manager?
ROMAN: All bad...No, all bad ba...uh, could we...
AVRAM: What Dave is trying to say, if you'd let him get a word through, is...you could maybe...do with some help.
JOSE: Some help?
AVRAM: ...managing the band.
ROMAN: It's very simple, it's very simple.
AVRAM: It's that clear.
ROMAN: Maybe there's someone already in the organization. We don't have to pay insurance. We don't have to pay extra room, etc. Since she's already here, she's already among us, and uh, she can...she is certainly capable of taking over...
JOSE: She? She? Wait a minute! Wait a minute!
ROMAN: Well who do you think I'm talking about? Who do you think I'm talking about?
JOSE: I would...I would have never dreamed in a million years that it was her you were talking about!
ROMAN: Why not?
AVRAM: I am offering to help out here.
JOSE: No, you're not offering to help out. You're offering to co-manage the band with me. Is that it?
ROMAN & AVRAM: Yes!
ROMAN: In so many words, that is exactly it.
AVRAM: Exactly!
JOSE: I'm certainly not going to co-manage with some...some...some girl just because she's your girlfriend...
ROMAN: Don't call her my girlfriend!
JOSE: Alright, she's not your girlfriend. I don't know...
AVRAM: Oh girlfriend is it? You couldn't manage a classroom full of kids! I don't know what you're doing managing a band!
ROMAN: Why don't we just...
AVRAM: Oh shut up!!!
JOSE: Look, look...I...I...this is...this is my position okay? I am not managing it with you or any other woman, especially one that dresses like an Australian's nightmare. So **** you!!!
AVRAM: **** you too!!!
JOSE: And **** all of you...because I quit! Alright? That's it! Good night!!!.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

The whole club under him was a personality cult - if he goes then it falls apart. the key players all bought into it - terry, lampard, drogba. Without him they deflate. Lampard could do with it...

Calderon is one of the biggest ****s in world football. No offence to Rafa but he's Real's first choice and his brand of footie isn't that much different to Mourinho's. So I'm not sure what Calderon is on about.Originally posted by Redlife View PostI'm not sure. Didn't Calderon say that he'd rather eat his own arms - or words to that effect
- than appoint Mourinho as manager of Real, on account of the dull football his teams play?
Of course they might do it just to piss off Barca where Maureen is absolutely despised.
I'm willing to bet that Maureen's next stop is Serie A followed by a return to the premiership. Again, if I was a betting man I'd say his next stop in the premiership would be United or dare I say it (when Rafa's eventually won everything and takes over at Real) us.

the timing is NOT good. We all know how long it takes for the agents and clubs to get together and agree transfers these days. It isn't like the old days where a phone call and a meeting in the holiday inn [avec la bung] sorts it all out. I'd be very surprised if Lampard, Drogba, Essien and Cech are all still at Chelsea on 1st February. Terry I'd think would stay - purely cos he's a Chelsea rentboy born and bred [and he's on mega wages which he wouldn't get anywhere else]
Whatever the outcome, it's likely team spirit will be seriously harmed, and whilst they do have class players it's the team spirit which made them champions.
Mind you - i wouldn't mind a little flutter on them against the Mancs on Sunday - you know what i mean - 'this one is for Jose''Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

Beautifully put. Chelsea under Mourinho were a truly horrible thing to observe. Their over the top, false and contrived celebrations at Spurs after the FA Cup tie last year were absolutely disgraceful. I actually turned of the telly in disgust. I've never witnessed such disrespect to an opposing club.Originally posted by Helios Creed View PostThe whole club under him was a personality cult - if he goes then it falls apart. the key players all bought into it - terry, lampard, drogba. Jose was a fine manager but to call him some sort of tactical genius, as some have done, is way wide of the mark. He bristled whenever Roman's millions were mentioned and I think Rafa picked up on this. Name ONE young player he bought cheaply who has gone on to look a really great player. I can't think of one. Any fool can throw someone else's money about.
Chelsea's attempts to become a giant of the game look set to follow the likes of Parma, Deportivo and Blackburn down the ****ter!! To be honest it's happened about five years earlier than expected and as you lot say on this site: FLMAO

I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
