Thanjk you.

Why is Gallas greedy? Do you really believe he left for the money? Cole is a cnut and he has found his perfect fit, Chelsea, but Gallas was sick of that prick Maureen and wanted to play his preferred position as centre back for the remainder of his career.
Yeah, but was totally unprofessional in the way he went about it.
Perhaps he's just a **** rather than a greedy **** then

I think that this statement just shows what a horrible club the are. It was never going to be long before the cracks started to appear and now that they have it will only get worse.
This statement is definitely all Jose's doing. His big f*cking head couldn't handle Gallas's public insults and my guess is he stormed into Kenyon's office and started banging his fists against the table insisting that Chelsea FC issue a vindictive lie of a statemnt on his behalf.
Cnuts, the lot of them.
I just, er, 'admire' is too strong the word.... 'agree' that Chelsea have exposed him for what an unloyal idiot he has been.

Chelski signs up all the best players that can be bought. As soon as they can get more elsewhere there will be trouble.
I don`t think they will fall apart, but I expect more cases like this.

Unless the part about refusing to play is true I don't think Gallas did anything tht wrong. In football people act as if a contract to play for a club is something different to any other contract to work. If I was unable to leave my job, in which I was unhappy I would feel pefectly justified in not treking half way across the world to earn my employers a bit of cash.

I've been thinking about this :
How would we feel if a player treated Liverpool like this, and Benitez came out and revealed the threats the player made?
We'd be delighted that the club/manager stuck up for themselves
(assuming of course it's all true)

I agree it completely depends on the truth of the allegations. I would currently guess that Gallas wouldn't accept a low offer as he thought he could get a better package of money + games + playing in his favoured positiion from other teams.
I would however hope that Rafa/Liverpool would not feel the need to attack a player once they left. These things tend to come out over time anyway.

with rafa, i might tend to believe it, but i often thought houllier would tell porkie pies, especially around the time robbie and thommo had the bust up.
Gallas threatened to score own goal
Monday, Sep 04, 2006
Chelsea Football Club has the following statement on William Gallas to explain the circumstances behind his departure. These include his refusal to play for the team, and if selected, a threat to score an own goal.
The statement says:
Chelsea FC believes it is important for our supporters to be made aware of the full facts regarding William Gallas and the lack of respect he showed to the fans, the manager and the club.
Despite leaving he continues to attack José Mourinho and this cannot be left unchallenged.
Chelsea made William Gallas a very substantial and attractive new contract offer to stay towards the end of last season. This was rejected.
The issue was purely one of money, despite his public comments that he wanted a new challenge, to play abroad and so forth. These were just a smokescreen to cover up the fact he was hawking himself to the highest bidder.
Having failed to secure his demands, his position became increasingly intransigent and unacceptable.
He initially refused to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season in an effort to force an increased contract offer.
As is now well documented he refused to join up with the team in Los Angeles during pre-season, despite agreeing the dates for his return as the other World Cup players did, with the club.
When José Mourinho generously offered him a way back into the "family" after the American tour, this was thrown back in the Chelsea manager's face.
The manager told him that, even if he did not agree a new contract but returned to the "family" and abided by the rules, he would still select the best players available and would not punish him playing wise.
However despite meetings to try and resolve the problems Gallas made it clear to José Mourinho he would never play for Chelsea again.
Before the first game of the season against Manchester City, when only four defenders were available and John Terry was doubtful with an injury, he refused to play.
He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes.
Clearly this was a totally unacceptable situation for the manager, the team and the club.
Chelsea's interests had to be protected and a solution was collectively agreed. If a satisfactory deal for Chelsea could be found, Gallas would be sold. If that did not happen it was agreed by all that Gallas would have to fulfil the terms of his contract.
Chelsea has a wage structure in place that is valued not only on the contribution of the player to the manager and the team, but also on a player’s respect for the club and contribution to the promotion and image of the club off the field. Every player is expected to play their part in this.
William Gallas rarely recognised these responsibilities. He also failed to recognise the role José Mourinho and Chelsea played in helping him become a double Premiership champion for a player whose only league title prior to that had been in the French Second Division
Is anyone else rather scared by the repeated use of the ‘family’ terminology?
Wow, this is a rare occasion when I think fair play to Chelsea for making the statement.
Gallas and Cole are a disgrace to football, and a pair of greedy
I think Disco has a point though...
Chelsea's conduct in all this has been shameful - absolutely no need to make a public statement.
However, I seem to remember a similiar situation about three years ago when Ranieri was in charge (before Ambramovich came in). Gallas demanded a better pay package and threatened to leave Chelsea. It didn't go down very well with football supporters in general and I remember people accusing him of being greedy.
He's had two identical clashes with two very different managers. I think it's no coincidence...
"In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. If there’s no finance secured by the opening day of the season, I’m going to hang up my keyboard and close KOPTALK down."
Although I believe that Gallas has been the main 'problem' here I still can't help but snigger at the thought of Chelsea washing their dirty linen in public! It really shows what a classless club they are!
I'd like to have thought that as a club we'd have kept it 'in-house' if it was us in their position.
