A guy I work with who isn't even a utd fan thinks Rooneys better than Messi, I couldn't believe what he was saying he's normally very knowledgable about all things football.

Thing is, Rooney is a brilliant player, for sure. And i dont really dislike him that badly, in the midst of a game, sure but generally, he doesnt say or do a lot that ****s me off. He does his best on the pitch to turn things for his own side, but i've no qualms with that. He's not a malicious diving piece of **** like Drogba. He's a gobby ****er, but he plays with a sense of honesty - what you see, is what you get. Passion, OTT nonsense sometimes but he doesnt actively seek to cheat, like some do.

That said, he's not in the same ballpark as Messi. Nobody is.

I absolutely detest Rooney, I don't see what's not to detest. The continual bile he throws at refs, which he always gets away with - "YOU ****ING CHEATING CUNT" - his angry 50 yard sprints when you know it's gonna end up with a two footed lunge through the air and only ever brings a yellow card, his constant snarling, his horrible celebrations when he scores against us (not very often, granted) - yesterday I could've ripped his head off the horrible, poxy cunt.

Hate him. Absolutely hate him. Hope he breaks his leg in the first minute of the World Cup.

Aye – it’s the one thing that messi (other than just pure ability ) has over all these cunts, is his attitude, professionalism etc – i see him week in week out getting kicked to **** up – he just picks himself up and goes at them again – always playing with a smile. You rarely if ever see him confronting a referee.

His form is nothing but frightening at the moment. There is some top top top class players about, torres, rooney, ronaldo – then there is messi. Kluivert was on the Spanish footy last night, and when asked if there was anyone close to messi (the sky pundit obviously trying to point towards rooney) he just laughed.

I’d like to see England win the world cup – i’m not going to lie about it, but i really wouldn’t mind if messi did something magical and won it on his own, scoring a record number of goals.

The things are dislike about rooney are all done in the heat of battle, and done with honesty. Which of us, if we played for Liverpool and got constant abuse from the mancs, WOULDNT celebrate with relish, if we scored against them?

I know i'd go right upto the stretford end and rub it in for a good half a minute.
